We are a Rights Respecting School; we put the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of everything we do. We have recently been awarded the ‘Rights Respecting Gold Award’, which means that we have fully embedded the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into our ethos, culture and curriculum. Our pupils are encouraged to think independently and challenge information and news around them- evaluating what is accurate and what is 'fake news'.
We are immensely proud of our school, the passionate team that works here and the exciting curriculum and other activities which our children enjoy all year round within a nurturing, friendly and family-oriented environment. Outdoor learning lends itself to practical engagement and appropriate risk taking. We believe children need these opportunities in order to build their confidence, spatial awareness, physical strength and the ability to keep themselves safe in an ever-changing and unpredictable world. The work carried out in classrooms is further enhanced through our provision of outdoor learning within the school’s grounds and in our own forest and pond area.
Glade Primary School is a London Borough of Redbridge Community School for boys and girls from the age of three to eleven. There are two classes per year group with up to thirty pupils per class. The Nursery has a morning and afternoon class of twenty six pupils and each session is three hours long.
The school is fortunate to have pleasant grounds with a field and a small wooded area, with a pond and nature garden. During the past few years, the school’s Governing Body have worked with the local authority to develop the school site. This has included the building of a second hall and two new Reception classes. More recently, the Governors have completed several projects to improve the quality of provision at Glade. This includes the refurbishment and development of the library, creating a stimulating and exciting Early Years playground, refurbishment of the school office and an extension of the main lobby including an additional meeting room.
During this academic year, the Parents’ Association (PTA) have worked with the school to support outdoor learning with the installation of a large gazebo in the woods and a fenced patio area linked to the Nature Garden. This will enable pupils to access the pond and woods for science and environ-mental studies.
