Welcome to Glenalmond College - an inspirational environment for learning. The school has a strong academic focus within the framework of an all-round education, and our full boarding environment benefits boarders and day pupils alike.

Glenalmond College is a co-educational full boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 12 to 18, situated on a 300-acre campus in the heart of the Perthshire countryside, just 8 miles from Perth and one hour from Edinburgh or Glasgow.

From my very first visit to Glenalmond, the College has impressed: it enjoys one of the most beautiful locations of any school in the country but is only a short distance from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, or even London. It is an exciting and restless place of learning that takes seriously the serious business of study, but it is also a place of activity, of warmth and most importantly, of community.

Glenalmond is holding on to what is best from the past while equipping the pupils for tomorrow with a vibrant and modern education, shaped by the community in which the pupils and the teachers live, learn, and play.

A Glenalmond education is challengingly simple, and the aspiration for every pupil is to be decent, to have clear values, and have the courage to stand by them. The pupils have the best academic education they can so that they face the future with the greatest number of choices, while experiencing a rich range of opportunities as these develop competence which, in turn, provide confidence.

A foundation of clear values, confidence drawn from wide-ranging competence, and sharp minds able to synthesise, interpret and evaluate complex problems help young adults to respond with agility and lead in this ever-changing world.

The academic focus of the school is clear. All pupils study for GCSEs and A levels or Highers, with a curriculum spanning 25 subjects in the Sixth Form offering an excellent basis for entry to university and higher education.

Every year a good number of pupils achieve places at Oxford and Cambridge, a high proportion get places at Russell Group universities (the top 24 UK universities) and 98% of leavers go on to university or higher education. Throughout their school career every pupil is helped to recognise and develop their academic strengths.

Glenalmond pupils are encouraged to develop a spirit of academic enquiry and an interest in learning for its own sake as well as to secure good examination grades. The William Bright Society at Glenalmond identifies, promotes and develops academic excellence in all areas of the school. The school has a programme of visiting lecturers throughout the year, and regular cultural and academic trips outside the school are organised to supplement classroom teaching.
