At Grange Primary School we believe all children are entitled to develop to their fullest potential in a happy, friendly and secure environment in an atmosphere that promotes mutual respect, caring, courtesy and concern for others. It will give the opportunity for each child to develop confidence in themselves.

We will ensure that every child will have equality of educational opportunity in all areas with regard to special educational needs, gender, race and religion. We will strive to encourage all pupils to embrace and accept the diversity of cultures, languages and beliefs within the school, developing a positive partnership between the school and its community.

Safeguarding at Grange

  • Protecting children from maltreatment;
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best life chances.

Some common areas of Safeguarding include the following: Neglect, Emotional Abuse, Physical Abuse and Sexual Abuse.

Common themes relating to safeguarding are: Children missing from Education, Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Bullying including Cyberbullying, Domestic Violence, Drugs, Fabricated or induced illness, Faith abuse, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Forced Marriage, Gangs and Youth Violence, Mental Health, Private Fostering, Preventing Radicalisation, Sexting, Trafficking.

Grange is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website. The school works with the Local Authority to ensure safeguarding practices are upheld and that our pupils are in a safe, stimulating and supportive environment. Practices are reviewed regularly to ensure safeguarding remains effective.
