HLC is a family of leading independent schools providing an all-round, high quality academic education for boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 11 and for girls only between the ages of 11 and 18.
We are a family of three leading UK independent schools delivering a world class education in the heart of Harrogate for boys aged 2-11 and girls aged 2-18 years. Here’s an overview of our schools:
We were originally established in the 1890s by educational pioneers of UK independent schools. Today we retain a strong sense of history, but with a forward thinking, progressive and modern outlook – much like that of our pioneering founders.
Our three schools are fully integrated to provide a seamless educational experience. Each of our schools shares the same ethos; the same campus; the same Board of Governors and the same Principal. This joined up approach enables us to share expertise, knowledge and best practice to ensure academic and pastoral excellence throughout our three schools.
Our schools are characterised by a strong sense of community – in fact, when we asked our pupils, parents and staff to describe our schools, “family” and “community” were the most frequently used words.
Preparing our pupils for the future and ensuring academic excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We’re passionate about inspiring each and every pupil from 2-18 years to achieve their full potential. We also believe a modern education should go beyond academic development and we encourage all of our pupils to embrace a wide range of exciting opportunities that life in our schools offers.
Our focus on academic and pastoral excellence is embodied by our school ethos of developing a passion for learning and a love of life in each and every child within our whole school community.
