Head of Science (Chemistry Preferred)

Job Summary

You will be leading a high achieving and energetic Science department. Previous IB curriculum experience is highly desirable along with (ideally) previous experience of running a successful and achieving department. Candidates with Chemistry as their specialism are preferred but all suitable applicants considered.

Experience of students with EAL is desirable. The successful candidate will be a highly committed team player who is keen to contribute to the development of this expanding and forward-looking school. You should have an inquiry based learning approach.

Applicants must be willing to play a full part in the College’s pastoral care and extra-curricular programme. A teaching qualification and a minimum of 2 years experience is required for this role. The school have a highly qualified professional and happy teaching faculty. Teachers are recruited largely from the UK, Australia and New Zealand and from other international schools throughout the world. They will hire from any country without bias as long as they are Western trained and English first language speakers.

Suzhou is a charming city that is situated 80 KM west of Shanghai (22 minutes by fast train). It was recently voted as the second most “liveable” city in China for expatriates. Known as the “Venice of the Orient” it is an ancient city that is steeped in History and culture. However, it has also embraced the spirit of the new China and enjoys all the infrastructure and amenities that are required to make ones life in the 21st Century very pleasant indeed.
