Holy Family School is a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary school, administered jointly by the Archdiocese of Cardiff and Cardiff County Council LEA. The school character, daily life and religious teaching is founded in the Catholic Faith. Holy Family is a co-educational day school and is a designated Primary School.

Our school is situated in a pleasant open setting, with large grounds in Fairwater, Cardiff. The building is modern in its design with two separate buildings, one housing the main body of the school, the other housing the computer suite and the Foundation Phase. The school was opened in September 1966 under the trusteeship of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cardiff. The school is maintained by the LEA. Parents who are considering sending their children to the school should contact the Head teacher in the first instance. A mutually convenient time will be arranged to visit the school.

A church school's curriculum must strive in every way to reflect the fact that the person of Christ, and the message which the Church has received from Him, is the foundation of the whole educational enterprise in a Catholic school. The curriculum as a whole is spiritual, since there is nothing which does not ultimately relate to God.

To be true to this vision, everybody involved in the curriculum must be aware of this sacred dimension and its purpose. Christian values must permeate all its activities. The Christian maturity for which we strive includes a recognition that life cannot be divorced from Faith. A mature faith is able to recognize and reject values which infringe on human dignity and are therefore contrary to the Gospel.

Children are divided into 5 classes at Holy Family by age from Yr. R to Yr. 6 in all classes it is necessary to have mixed age groups. The organization of Classes varies from year to year dependent on pupil numbers. The structure of classes may well change year on year: depending on the number of pupils who leave at the end of Yr.6, the new intake in our Reception Class, and any influx of children across the age groups throughout the school. We provide a curriculum that is broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated for each child – whether in mixed age or straight age classes. The child is taught according to the stage of their ability, rather than age, in both Key Stages
