We are a house of curated learning, a genuine Montessori. Founded in 2012, we believe in immersing the child in an open and stimulating environment with a curriculum of experiential learning - allowing each child to develop life-long skills for their future successes at their own pace.
House on the hill is a family run school that stemmed form the passions of three people’s shared vision for excellence in early childhood education. Thoughtful consideration is put into the entirety of our school, from the lush green surroundings to the daily curriculum of learn and play.
Through the Montessori framework, we give each child purposeful learning experiences to build key foundational skills essential for their future. House on the Hill was started in the halls of the historic classic Tower House on Mount Sophia, a hill named in honour of Sir Stamford Raffles’ wife. Built in 1892, the building is the last remnant of a bygone age of colonial villas that once dotted the hill.
The new Mount Sophia campus today is located in the former Nan Hua Girl’s school, a beautiful conservation building in the heart of Singapore. Our other two locations in Balmoral and Pasir Panjang services parents and children living in the Central area and the West.
We pride ourselves as a leading Montessori pre-school where each child’s creativity and talents are nurtured in a socially aware, stimulating and warm environment.
Our child-centric approach goes beyond the classroom. To build critical thinking skills and creative independence, we create and weave in experiences that help foster a lifelong love of learning.
At House on the Hill, we stay true to the values and educational excellence of the Montessori method. We focus on an approach of hands-on experiential learning tailored for each individual child. We seek to help each child reach their fullest potential by making learning practical, memorable and fun.
As a true Montessori pre-school, we believe each child is born with a unique potential waiting to be revealed. With a focus on a well-rounded curriculum coupled with purposeful experiences, we seek to develop each child to their fullest in a nurturing, prepared and open environment.
With a flourished mind, your child defines their own successes, enabling them to excel in both education and life.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
Leon entered this school when he was only 18 months old and he graduated there when he just turned 6. Many people asked me why Leon eats vegetables and whole grains and has good eating habits. At P1 level, his classmates at SJIJ was amazed by his science knowledge and he always scored between 90-95% in math. He never has issues with English. Very high fluency. I give all the credits to House on the Hill! Thank you! - Leon Tan's mommy

House on the Hill is truly a great start to my daughter Keira's learning journey! She frequently breaks into a song/dance, and happily talks about her school teachers/friends and new things that she has learned. Thank you all (including cooking auntie) for your passion, dedication and hard work.

I am into the Montessori method. When arrived in Singapore (from USA), I visited quite a few Montessori schools for my children and I thought House on the Hill was the most desirable school for them in terms of its clean, quiet and organized (and pretty, too!) environment, its warm and caring atmosphere, its Montessori educational philosophy and the nurturing school staff. Our children are in good hands at this school. My children's teachers have been dedicated to the children's developmental needs - multi-sensory, socially, emotionally.... the list goes on! The principle of the school, Ms Marilyn is a well rounded teacher with a solid Montessori knowledge and child development experiences. She is always happy to sit down with me when I have questions or worries about my children in their development, and shares her insights and advices from her own experience. She is a true educator herself. House on the Hill holds a special place on our hearts.

Caring and dedicated staff, in an amazingly beautiful facility, with lots of space, light filled rooms and in a historic building. Great attention to detail in every aspect from curriculum to food served and each room of the entire building.
