Hsinchu County American School (HCAS) was established in 2016 to fulfill the vision of Dr. Johnson Korrnell Huang to challenge the current education system in Taiwan. In summary, he saw the need to produce students who will have a lasting impact on society – changing the world and saving lives. Dr. Huang also envisioned students who will stop, think (critically), and act (fearlessly).
Our mission is to educate the whole person using the Dalton Plan to develop individuals who contribute to humanity. Our community of lifelong learners fosters healthy, creative, social, and globally minded individuals who can think independently and critically. Our students strive for academic excellence by taking a challenging, balanced curriculum in core disciplines, the Arts, and technology as embodied by the Seven Cs.
Our school motto is AUT VIAM INVENIAM AUT FACIUM which means “Either I will find a way or make one”, emphasizing society’s need for entrepreneurial and trail-blazing leaders for the 21st century.

In our kindergarten, we strongly believe that every child is innately motivated to learn, and we strive to create curriculum that is meaningful and appealing to students. As a result, all the lessons are based on our students’ interests and learning needs. We know the importance of peer interactions, so we encourage students to learn from and with each other. We also support the children’s learning by providing scaffolding, aiming to help every child grow in all the developmental areas. We are equally dedicated to pursuing academic rigor and language growth to help prepare Kindergarten students for Grade 1.
At HCAS, we are proud to offer our First Program (elementary) students a diverse and well-rounded curriculum. Our core curriculum encompasses Language Arts, Drama, Dance, Math, Science and Social Studies. We also offer students an enriched curriculum in Art, Music, Physical Education/ACAT, Computer Science, Education on Morals/Ethics, and Health Education. Home room teachers often collaborate with specials teachers to further integrate subject knowledge. English is our primary language of instruction; however, students take daily courses in Chinese as well. Fourth Grade students do one lab per week to prepare them for the transition for Middle School. In addition to the curriculum, students are also offered a wide variety of daily extracurricular activities.
Hsinchu County American School believes in learning, growing, and developing outside of the four walls of the classroom. Much of character building and cultivation of core values (honesty, compassion, courage, humility, citizenship, justice, conservation, good sportsmanship, self-reliance, respect, and responsibility) are learned by interaction between people at home or in the school community. Therefore, we offer variety of opportunities for activities both during and after school for our students.
While the co-curricular activities allow our students to follow their passion and interests as they relate to their subjects in school during the Lab time, extra-curricular activities help students hone their physical and social skills. Please feel free to explore our school’s Lab and extracurricular activities offered at HCAS.
On weekends, we offer activities through the Star Academy. Tailored made for students in the kindergarten age, students play games and learn the importance of collaboration.

After my kids joining this school for 2 years, I have my own opinions to this school now. Honestly, this is a very new international school in Taiwan, which means there was a chaos at their first year. But I would say they are making a miracle, and it’s still happening. All the faculty members, including their teachers, administrative stuffs, managers, principal, and the chairman are willing to communicate with parents and students and do the best they can. I can feel the sincerity when every time I talk to every stuff. It’s a very important value I want to deliver to my children. In here, our community is like a huge family. Just like every families, most of the time we get alone, but somethings we have conflicts. After all, we still strongly bond together because of love and understanding. We talk to each other, share our thoughts, contribute something. This year, we can perceive that school is stabilized and growing up. That’s too good to be true.

This is a great place to study and make life-long friends. I'm in the class of 2019, and would definitely miss this place after I graduate.

我推薦這所學校!一個充滿溝通及愛的學校!孩子在這裹,很自在,很怏樂,有許多機會表達自己!很開心我們做對了選擇.

One of the best schools in the area to send my own kids to. If you are school hunting, definitely give them a try. You'll love the campus and the folks there.
