In the decades stretching from its founding in 1976 to the present day, Hudson Park has established itself as a major school that enjoys the support of its local and regional communities. It has become renowned for a balanced, integrated curriculum based on the four pillars of education, namely academics, sporting and physical activities, cultural pursuits, and pastoral outreach.

With a sprawling, modern campus situated in a beautiful suburb of East London, Hudson Park offers quality education from Grade 000 to Grade 12. We strive to provide a learning environment which is nurturing and stimulating, and one which supports the pursuit of excellence in many areas of endeavour.

Alongside their academic studies, learners have every opportunity to explore their potential through sporting, cultural, and pastoral activities, so that they will be equipped to succeed in a global environment.

Our school seeks to provide the special sense of fulfilment for staff and pupils that comes from shared success in combining individual talent with teamwork. We believe that through carefully planning a programme which incorporates progression and balance, the pupil can be assisted towards reaching his, or her, full potential.

Everyone is encouraged to consider other people, thus developing mutual understanding and respect for one another in an environment of Christian beliefs and values.

Our success is a result of attracting quality and committed staff who ensure that parents receive the best value that there is for their child.

Our aim is to create and maintain a happy, caring school environment, meeting the needs of all our children. Each child should gain a clearer sense of purpose and knowledge of his, or her, value to so attain the highest standards of development.

We believe it is essential that our children develop the ability to solve problems, to reason, to persevere, and to be creative. They are encouraged to accept that participation is fulfilling and failure can be a learning experience. We aim to develop within the child self-discipline, as part of a well balanced personality, through good manners and logical thinking.

At Hudson Park Primary we have 4 different Aftercare facilities. This enables us to group the children according to their ages and to do everything possible to ensure that their afternoons pass happily, in the company of their peers. Nutritious meals are provided and the children are cared for in a loving environment with a 'home-from-home' atmosphere. Best of all, homework is supervised by qualified teachers.

Hudson Park Primary is a public school governed by our SGB (School Governing Body), the only statutory body at our school. The SGB controls the school’s finances and its assets, and it determines policy on important matters such as admission and uniform.

However, our school is unique in that it also owns land. The Grade R, 1 and 2 classrooms are built on properties which are owned by the HEDT (Hudson Education and Development Trust).

Our academic academies and support staff offices are also located on land belonging to the school. Collectively, they form the Upper Campus. The Middle Campus, comprising the Grade 3 to 7 classrooms, main field, Centennial Centre, Science and Technology Centre, and the Red House is government property. To the east, we have our Lower Campus which accommodates the pre-primary school, Hudson Park Eaglets.

Our aim is for learners to work productively and to develop their thinking skills and their creativity.Computer literacy is a vital aspect of all that we do, and we provide the best in educational systems and hardware.

Hudson Park has several Academies for accelerated learning which cater for learners with particular academic aptitude.Remedial and other support is offered, in areas such as the development of foundational and sensory-motor skills, and trauma management.

Winning is, of course, the goal of games, but the enjoyment of the game and the manner in which it is played remain paramount.

All learners can participate in sports, regardless of their level of attainment. For the most able, professional coaching is available, and our learners are regularly selected for provincial, or national, teams. The professional coaches also assist members of our general staff who are involved in the coaching of sports, helping them to keep abreast of rules and techniques.

Hudson Park offers a host of opportunities for budding musicians, actors, artists, and dancers to develop their talents.

Every learner is encouraged to participate, and both individual and group tuition is offered. This may take place during normal school hours, or as part of our extra-mural programme.

Performance skills are strengthened through participation in concerts and stage presentations which are a regular feature at Hudson Park.
