Girls thrive at Hutchison because we understand how girls learn and what helps them succeed. In addition to academic, athletic, and character development—the mind, body, and spirit referenced in our mission statement—we encourage each girl to find her voice and take risks without fear of failure. Dedicated faculty leverage the proven advantages of an all-girl school. We know girls learn differently than boys, and we employ teaching strategies proven to work best for the ways girls think, learn, and interact.

See for yourself the excitement that permeates the air at Hutchison. Girls are engaged in learning, thinking creatively and making connections across disciplines. Our community of students, faculty, parents, administration, and staff are bonded by a common goal – to help you succeed. Hutchison is small enough to celebrate each girl’s unique talents and interests yet large enough to offer advanced technologies and rigorous academics in a diverse environment.

One of the ways our girls achieve these goals is through the enthusiastic work of our faculty. Hutchison attracts, supports, and empowers the strongest faculty possible – dedicated, creative, caring professionals whose expertise and passion ignite a genuine interest in the learning process. We believe that learning should be joyful and the experiences meaningful.

The Hutchison community values connection and prioritizes relationships. Our girls form friendships here that last a lifetime. We are a school where each girl will discover her own abilities and talents, while appreciating the distinctive gifts of her peers. Whether our girls discover a new interest in the art studios, the science labs, the classrooms, or on the athletic fields, she will find an earnest, supportive network here to challenge and guide her toward success.

For more than 115 years, Hutchison has enrolled girls who compare to the best and the brightest from any independent school in the country. Our rigorous curriculum fosters critical thinking, thoughtful debate, and resourceful solutions. Each girl finds her voice and uses it confidently. The proof is in our alumnae, who are impacting their communities and making a difference all around the world.

Hutchison is dedicated to academic excellence and to the parallel development of mind, body, and spirit as it educates young women for success in college and for lives of integrity and responsible citizenship. We understand how girls learn and what helps them succeed. We set high standards for what each girl should gain from her time at Hutchison. Our exceptional teachers make it happen. Hutchison’s forward-thinking academic culture thrives on teachers who constantly challenge themselves to grow professionally and evaluate emerging trends in their fields. Visiting Scholars enhance the classroom experience for students and teachers alike.

Hutchison prepares girls for lives of integrity and character. We are founded on Christian principles and values, and we welcome students of all faiths and teach appreciation for each other's differences. Regular chapel meetings, planned by the girls with faculty supervision, are a chance to reflect on common values and grow from sharing different perspectives. Our unique leadership development program in Upper School weaves together internships, service learning, and philanthropic literacy opportunities to help girls develop and implement sustainable solutions for pressing societal issues.

In Early Childhood, the Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum gives girls the space to solve problems creatively. Their intellectual curiosity will flourish here as they begin to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Lower School is when girls begin to “connect the dots”. Across all disciplines, faculty work collaboratively to make connections. When first graders learned to use engineering skills to build bridges, they later studied how some of the same properties apply to ballet.

Middle School is an opportunity to grow and investigate new ideas. This is evident daily in 8th grade Global Studies where a Socratic-style seminar class encourages a respectful debate around the unique 20-seat Harkness table. In Upper School, each girl’s academic journey is unique to her skills and interests. Graduates secure merit scholarships and have their choice of the nation’s top colleges and universities.
