Parents and students are being reassured that despite the changes, education continuity will not be compromised

With exams concluded, online sessions wrapping up, and clear schedules for the new academic year, Indian schools across the UAE are striving to balance safety, flexibility, and academic rigor, providing reassurance to students and parents alike in uncertain times.

Schools across the UAE are adjusting their academic calendars, giving students an early end-of-year break while ensuring exams and results remain on track.

Headteachers in Indian curriculum schools highlight that parents and students are being reassured that despite the changes, education continuity will not be compromised.

At Shining Star International School in Abu Dhabi, principal Abhilasha Singh confirmed that the exams concluded on Friday (March 6). “Our exams concluded on Friday, March 6. The examination period began on February 16, and both our primary and secondary students have now completed their assessments. Last week’s exams were conducted online, so there has been no disruption to the students’ examination schedule,” she said.

She added that teachers will continue working remotely as they compile and finalise results, monitoring developments closely in these uncertain times.

Exam time shortened

In Dubai, Springdales School’s principal David Jones explained that students were already midway through Term 3 exams when an earlier spring break was announced.

“In Indian curriculum schools, we do not typically observe a spring break. Instead, we conduct our end-of-year examinations, after which students go on their term break,” he said.

To accommodate the revised schedule, remaining exams will be conducted online between 9am and 10am, with question papers tailored so students can complete them within an hour. Grades 6 to 8 will sit for Mathematics, Science, and English exams starting tomorrow.

Jones also highlighted that bridge classes for students moving into Grades 10 and 12 will begin on Monday. “These are crucial academic years, so the bridge sessions will be held online for these students,” he explained. Retests, he added, are only conducted in genuine medical emergencies, ensuring the integrity of the examination process.

Retests scheduled on March 23

Meanwhile in Ras Al Khaimah, Indian School authorities announced that Zoom classes would end on March 6, and students would enjoy a spring break until March 30, after which a new academic year begins.

Key dates for the upcoming academic year, including summer and winter vacation schedules, were also shared in advance to help families plan ahead.

A school circular stated, “Retests are scheduled to start on March 23, with a detailed timetable to be shared with parents soon.”
