Founded in 1903, Institut International de Lancy offers challenging and inspiring programmes in its English, French and Bilingual sections, with innovative pedagogy that encourages personal development, cultural enrichment and international exposure for each student.
Our school welcomes students from 3 to 19 years old. From nursery school through secondary education, preparing them for major certifications, including the International Baccalaureate (IB), IGCSE, Brevet des Collèges and French Baccalaureate.
We are a multicultural, diverse community where children can flourish and develop a love of learning, inspired by motivational teachers.
Our unique preschool programme Early Years, created for children aged 3 to 6 provides a smooth transition from home to school and promotes the early learning of language skills.
Within a uniformly French and English environment, IIL is dedicated to forming young people to be multi-lingual, articulate, independent thinkers with a strong sense of self-worth and integrity, and with an awareness of others and the world around them. Students are encouraged to develop a sensitivity to social and humanitarian commitment for which the school itself is an advocate and an example.
An IB World School, IIL is certified to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school is also a Cambridge University examination centre and is a member of the GESBF (Groupement des Ecoles Suisses qui préparent au Baccalauréat Français). The French Baccalaureate programme is taught under the aegis of the Académie de Grenoble.
Students in the French section follow the Education Nationale curriculum which leads to the Brevet des Collèges and French Baccalaureate diplomas and learn English from the age of 3.
In the English section, students follow the National Curriculum for England, sit Cambridge IGCSE examinations, and prepare for the IB Diploma with multilingual exam options. They also prepare for University Admission tests. Children are taught French as a foreign language from the age of 4.
An Apple Distinguished School, IIL is a pioneer in incorporating information technology in education. In 2011, it became the first One-to-One iPad school in Switzerland, creating an individualised learning environment and a platform for clear information sharing between teachers, parents and students.
After-school supervision, as well as a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, are available for all age groups. IIL operates a regular school bus service. Students of all ages benefit from modern facilities including fully equipped sports halls.
Students and staff from across the world, from a multitude of cultural, linguistic and religious backgrounds, unite at the Institut International de Lancy to work and succeed together.

IIL provides an amazing mix of supporting academia and extra curricular activites. The staff are passionate and the general ethos of the school between students and staff encourages passionate, intuitive and friendly learning. I absolutely love this school! I’ve been studying here for 12 years now(From nursery and currently in year 11 :)) and I’ve the seen it evolveinto what it is now,an academically driven school, full of great facilities and technology to aid our education. The teachers are extremely helpful, friendly and professional, they always try their best to guide us to success. The extra curricular activities are great and a variety are offered, for example I’m part of the girls football team and we get great opportunities to compete as a team (e.g. we went to Verona for an international competition). However my favourite part of the school is the atmosphere, everyone is extremely welcoming and we are like a big family!
