Playing an important role of preparing Bruneian youths to become highly skilled workers in today’s changing global economy, IBTE has been steadfast in its commitment to be more responsive and relevant. To meet the challenges ahead and fulfill all our stakeholders’ expectations, IBTE has been restructured with its own Board of Governors and the ongoing implementation of its six strategic initiatives embracing sustainable practices, focusing on enhancing the teaching and learning experience, operational efficiency and human resource development. IBTE has also identified a number of key growth areas that will be focused on in the coming years to realise Brunei Darussalam’s vision to have highly-skilled people with a dynamic and sustainable economy with income per capita within the top countries in the world.

The programmes we offer cover a wide range of fields, from energy and engineering to agriculture and science. Our focus is to challenge the status quo by working proactively with key stakeholders to forge collaborations in areas where sustainable, long-term relationships can benefit both parties a well as actively responding to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam call to work together and form a consensus to adopt “a whole of nation approach” to stimulate and sustain Brunei’s economic growth. The indisputable success of the EICF (or Energy Industry Competency Framework) initiative which has been expanded to other sectors, now known as ICF (or Industry Competency Framework) is one example of how IBTE and its partner agencies both public and private sectors can assist in generating quality human capital for Brunei. The alliance between EIDPMO, IBTE and the Oil and Gas industry has produced scores of skilled and competent graduates who are now employed by the Oil and Gas companies ranging from those working in the oil rigs to plant supervisors.

Produce highly skilled and professional workforce in response and support to Brunei Vision 2035. Carry-out envisioned activities and strategic initiatives that will support the Four Checkpoints of the Ministry of Education. Equip students with internationally recognised technical skills and vocational qualifications.
Provide demand-driven curricular programmes that would satisfy industry requirement. Provide quality teaching and learning through new recruitment and training framework for the teaching personnel. Establish collaborative programmes with industries to ensure authenticity of training programmes and proper alignment of courses with industry requirements.
