International British School of Alexandria was founded to provide the very best British style of education for the children of Alexandria. It is an adapted curriculum based upon the framework provided by the National Curriculum for England and Wales and modified to include the richness of cultural experiences available in Egypt whilst maintaining the discipline and high standards of achievement synonymous with the British Curriculum. Our pupils come from both the Egyptian and expatriate families of our city and we provide an education that is broad, international and relevant to the times in which we live.
Our mission is to educate all students to achieve their individual potential as well-rounded, lifelong learners and empower them to become compassionate, confident, and responsible global citizens. We will inspire and guide students to become outstanding citizens of the world, with high aspirations and the drive and determination to advance themselves, for the benefit of others, their community, and their country.
Here at the IBSA, our culturally rich curriculum focuses on, acquiring knowledge, skills, abilities, and character development for the future. This is achieved through a curriculum that facilitates a holistic approach to learning through a breadth of experience combined with a depth of study. It aims to develop the students’ confidence, skills and attributes that will enable them to live happy, healthy, and successful lives as global citizens in the 21st century. Our school vision and mission encapsulate our aims for the students. Here you will find some of our key philosophies that underpin our ideals.
Our aim at IBSA is to use our educational knowledge to create a positive learning environment and build relationships which support, enhance, and invite a child’s curiosity, confidence, and individual competencies to flourish We know that for young children, play is an integral part of learning and this is at the heart of our early year’s curriculum. We believe that the correct mix of adult-directed, and uninterrupted child-initiated play ensures the best outcomes for children. By ensuring a stimulating environment, we can create exciting opportunities, that promote challenge, exploration, and adventure so that all children develop physically, verbally, cognitively, and emotionally.
We understand that warm and positive relationships between staff and children, consistent routines and strong relationships with parents are vital to a child’s success which is why we work collaboratively with parents and carers to encourage children to become independent, enthusiastic learners.
Vision
The School’s vision is for pupils at ISE to not only achieve outstanding academic results but also develop the motivation, skills and determination to make a positive difference to the world in which they live.
We aspire to be an outstanding British and French school that is innovative, cutting-edge, and aspirational.
This is achieved through the provision of a challenging curriculum which develops critical, principled thinking within a positive learning environment, and which addresses the student’s academic, social, emotional, physical, technological, aesthetic, and moral needs.
Mission
Our mission is to educate all students to become inclusive, successful and empowered citizens of the world.
Values
ISE is guided in all its actions and decisions by its commitment to our ASPIRE values:
All staff and governors at ISE recognise that pupils who are confident about their learning and who have a growth mind-set, persist when faced with challenges. Pupils who can set goals, manage stress and have awareness of their mental health are more likely to thrive in a school setting.
Our aim is to explicitly teach and model to our children what is ethically important in different situations, leading them to become more autonomous with decision making and reflective about the choices they will need to make as they grow up. ASPIRE is not just apparent in one subject or lesson, but permeates the school ethos and is built into our everyday practice.
