The absence of comparison of children: each child learns the material at his own pace, one is visual, the other is auditory, one has an aptitude for languages, the other for mathematics. It’s normal that some children are hyperactive, others are more calm , our task is to find an approach to everyone. We can show children that there is a difference, for example, in their taste preferences, but there is a non-evaluative system when children are not judged by better handwriting, or behavior, or academic success.
Non-evaluative system and the ability to appreciate, and share the worries, experiences and children’s work. Grades are not announced in front of the whole class and are not assigned immediately. There are criterion for evaluating works, and children are informed about them. Tasks are performed due to interest in the subject and interest in the results of work. So, in our school we successfully got rid of an “excellent student” syndrome. Our team always shares the child’s experiences and helps to cope with difficulties. Freedom of choice – the child chooses additional classes, topics of project work, learns to make a choice ranging from the colour of a pencil to choosing a profession.
Personal boundaries. A teacher and a psychologist help to build personal boundaries and respect others. From kindergarten, the child is indicated that there is his personal locker, and even the teacher can open it only if the child asks for help or in other situations requiring help to the child (feeling unwell , etc.)
Setting rules. From the first day, children get acquainted with the basic rules of behavior at school and then learn to generate them with their class. The ITA team is very interested in the desire of children to transform the existing rules and the proposal to implement their vision
