The Jakarta Multicultural School was initially known as the Jakarta Montessori School and was operated in a rented space of the International Sports of Indonesia (ISCI), located by the Situgintung lake. JMS attracted and appealed to parents who yearned for a school with low learner-teacher ratio that catered and nurtured learners individual needs and personality. The intimate classrooms combined with dedicated teachers and staff fostered what will later become the inspiration of a new vision.
In 2007, the school was acquired by Ms. Edriana Noerdin and adopted the Cambridge and International Baccalaureate curriculums and was renamed the Jakarta International Multicultural School, establishing the beginning of the school we know and love today. To mark this new beginning, JMS relocated to a 2-hectare, lush property located in the green Situgintung area, only 15 minutes away from the Lebak Bulus MRT station.
JMS maintains a low learner-teacher ratio and has developed a bully free environment. Teachers and staff know each and every learner by name, allowing us to closely pay attention to the potentials and challenges faced by each individual learner.
JMS has a colorful and fascinating story that has been shaped by the thousands of families, teachers, and staff that have been part of our community for close to 15 years. We continue to evolve and develop as we say goodbye to graduating learners and welcome new learners yearly.
With learners from Toddlers to Grade 12, JMS has learners representing around 15 countries from all around the world. JMS understands that the world has become interconnected and that relationships between countries from the North to the South and from the East to the West are always multicultural in character.
Our international curricula, the International Baccalaureate Organization’s (IBO) Diploma Programme (DP) as well as the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) guide learners to become conversant and knowledgeable in various subjects as well as to embrace diversity close to their heart.
However, at JMS we do not only strive for academic excellence. Academic activities should be balanced with performance arts and sports. Participating in performance arts activities will make learners gain self confidence in expressing themselves to the public. JMS organizes performance arts that involve as many learners from Early Years to Upper Secondary, such as the adaptations of Lion King, Frozen, Bugsy Malone, the Wizard of Oz, and Beauty and the Beast. Competence and confidence are two key elements for our learners to succeed in higher education institutions and in the job market.
Last but not least, JMS provides a bully free school environment that provides learners with comfortable and supportive learning environment. No kids are deserved to be bullied. Our low learner-teacher ratio allows us to develop a caring and supportive environment to prevent kids to become bullies.

JMS is an international school, that is actually a dream job for teachers. Teacher to student ratio is small, so it makes it easier to cater towards individual student’s needs. It is certified as both a Cambridge and IB school, so a student can definitely be challenged academically. The teachers and student share a special relationship, as well as the parents and teachers. This is a great school for students who want to enjoy their educational experience, without having to worry about bullying, or the pressures of competing against other students.

JMS is spacious and has complete facilities. There was a vaccine activity here and we were still able to maintain the protocol because the area was large to maintain distance.
