Kakegawa International Christian School offers an English/American school program, with Japanese lessons 2+ times per week. KICS includes K4 (preschool), K5 (kindergarten), elementary, junior high, and high school.

Our English curriculum is BJU (Bob Jones University), which is used by many private schools in America, and is 1-2 grades ahead of US public school curriculum in level of quality and difficulty.

KICS has been a licensed ACSI school member since 2008 : ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) is officially recognized by the Japanese government.

Although our high school diplomas are not recognized by the government of Japan (as KICS is not accredited), graduates CAN enter Japanese international universities by passing a TOEFL (non-US citizens), or G.E.D. test (General Education Development) : equal to a US government accredited high school diploma) in Japan, both of which we help students to prepare for. Our diploma is readily accepted by American and Philippine universities. Japanese international universities require an additional exam.

KICS School classes focus on education with an added flare of excitement! Our teachers work hard to make each class educationally FUN.

Physical Education is a big part of any school curriculum, and KICS is no exception. Training for Undokai (Sports Day), playing football, soccer, badminton, or shooting some hoops - KICS P.E. Class is exciting and vigorous. We also enjoy having homeschool families and students join PE and Undoukai.

Music is essential to any proper education, and KICS makes sure that every student gets an opportunity to participate in our school wide choir! We sing and perform songs every semester, which is also a great way to learn English.

What is life without art? Art is an essential part of the complex puzzle that is education. Our students all have mandatory art classes to expand their minds and foster creativity! and we have some CREATIVE students.

At KICS we strive to teach more than just "head knowledge," but also HOW to use that knowledge for life. Students are taught WHY they need to learn information, HOW to make wise decisions, and the EFFECT those decisions will have on their lives and the lives of others.

Honesty is vital to successful relationships in life, at school, home, and in society. Students are challenged to be truthful, even when they have made mistakes, and to take responsibility for the results of their actions.

A person's character is shown by the way they treat other people. KICS encourages students to learn to care for others and give assistance of their own initiative, not only when asked. "Actions speak louder than words."

Students at KICS learn to work and serve others! Through cleaning, assisting teachers, and helping younger students, they learn responsibility. This helps prepare them for life, rather than expecting others to serve and wait on them.

The basis for our curriculum is BJU K4 Footsteps for Fours, and K5 Beginnings, published by Bob Jones University Press. This curriculum is being used successfully in thousands of preschools around the world. We also teach beginning Japanese speaking, reading, and writing.

We prepare a “learning environment” and give our students time each day to choose and do activities that help them develop skills in practical life, language, movement, math, and culture!
