Since its establishment in 1960 as a science and technology college, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi has consistently strived to produce quality graduates, provide excellence in education and research, serve the community and make contributions to society at large. Currently, strong emphasis is being placed on knowledge integration, that is, how graduates make use of their acquired knowledge or apply knowledge to practical work situations. The university also provides internship opportunities and global experience for our students through work-integrated learning in the industrial sector and innovative research projects for community benefit. Such activities help to produce well-rounded graduates by not only providing exposure to real life projects, but also providing them with the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills.

As one of the nine National Research Universities proclaimed by Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), KMUTT feels that it has a responsibility to society at large, especially rural and remote communities. The University’s educational reach extends well beyond Bangkok and the surrounding areas by creating linkages with these communities and directing research projects that are of direct benefit to them.
