Dubai, UAE: The long hard slog of study and revision, followed by nail-biting anticipation, is over for the current cohort of Year 11 students at Kings’ School Al Barsha with today’s GCSE outcomes registering a third stellar year of achievement for the school.

The KHDA Outstanding rated school built upon its 2018 success with in excess of  60%  A* to A grades with particularly notable performances in English with 93% A* through B and impressive 100% A* through A grades in history

Other GCSE results highlights included strong results in English with an 85% A* through A grade showing and equally strong performance across all Science disciplines, with an average of 89% A* through B results.

Established in 2014, Kings’ School Al Barsha is a proudly inclusive school that was awarded an Outstanding rating by KHDA inspectors earlier this year. The school is committed to achieving ‘The Best by Every Child as exemplified by this year’s results with just under 90% of students performing above expectations, and further demonstrating Kings’ ability to add significant value to a child’s starting point.

“Following on from the success of our first A-Level cohort last week, we are delighted that our students have again performed beyond expectations. The translation of and improvement on previous successes with a much larger student cohort this past academic year is a testament to the excellent learning community our children and staff are building here at Kings’,” said Michael Bloy, Secondary Head Teacher, Kings’ School Al Barsha.

“A key driver of our success is the incredibly strong relationships that our staff build with the children. Our teachers know their students inside out and their interactions, as well as those between students, make a significant contribution towards  what makes this school a great place to be – and that’s how we are able to get such outstanding year-on-year results,” he added.

Year 11 students celebrating today included Sheryl Rizvi, who achieved straight As in Science, Maths and English. She said: “All those months of revision have paid off and I am incredibly proud of my results. I will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-Level as I am interested in a career in medicine. Having the opportunity to do work experience at Saudi German hospital as part of my Biology GCSE was particularly relevant, and the way that Kings’ has nurtured me as an individual has prepared me for what’s beyond the classroom with values that I can apply in everyday life.”

Fellow student, Pedro Coelho Antunes, who earned Bs and Cs across various subjects, which will enable him to access the new BTEC Music Technology course at Kings’ School Al Barsha, said: “Kings’ has definitely equipped me with the skills that motivate and drive me to be the best I can be, as well as open up different career pathways. I’m thrilled with my results and am excited to move on to Sixth Form, where I will be studying BTEC Music Technology and photography, which will hopefully lead to a career in music.”

Commenting on GCSE success, Kings’ School Al Barsha’s Principal and Director of Education for Kings’, Rebecca Gray, said: “We pride ourselves on being a school that seeks to develop the whole child rather than focusing purely on academics. Our holistic approach ensures that our children are very well prepared for exams and wider life. Our practices develop their self-belief and give them the confidence to push their own boundaries. This is why our children have yet again achieved incredible GCSE results. We absolutely hold true to our ethos of doing ‘The Best by Every Child’ and our commitment to ‘Results the Right Way’.

“We work to provide a ‘bespoke’ curriculum that allows us to personally tailor the learning journey of each and every child. Each child’s individual starting point is considered and the teachers plan around this to ensure we maintain our exceptionally high results as well as secure success for all. Kings’ School Al Barsha is a school full of children with confidence, self-awareness and independence.”

With the countdown to the start of a new academic year underway, the leadership team at Kings’ School Al Barsha is not resting on its KHDA Outstanding laurels with a special   on oracy for 2019/20.
