We are very proud of our school and are committed to continual improvement – to be better tomorrow than we are today – so that the education that every student receives meets their individual needs as effectively as possible and prepares them optimally for success beyond school. At the heart of any effective school are high quality relationships between students, teachers and parents.

As a prospective parent or student, we invite you to come and see our school for yourself and to ask any questions you may have of us. In particular, we encourage you to talk to our students, who are without doubt our best advertisement!

Enrolment Forms

Ballarat Clarendon College is an open-entry school and enjoys a strong demand for places by local, national and overseas applicants. Parents and guardians are advised to make enquiries and applications at an early date, as there are waiting lists at a number of levels.

The levels of particular demand are the intake years, 3YO and 4YO Early Learning, Years 5, 7, 9 and our boarding houses.

Children entering the three-year-old program must be three years of age by 31 January in the year of commencement. Children entering the four-year-old program should be four years of age by 30 April in the year of commencement. This is consistent with the legislated requirement for children to be at least 5 years of age by 30 April in the year they first attend Prep. However, we encourage students to be older for the school year to give them the very best start, not only in Early Learning but throughout their school lives. We encourage parents with children turning three in January, or four between January and April to consider delaying entry into kindergarten. As part of the enrolment process for the three-year-old and four-year-old programs, parents and children will be required to attend an enrolment meeting prior to the place being confirmed.

The Head of Admissions maintains close contact with those who are on our waiting lists, as well as those who have registered.

There are a small number of international students from a range of countries in the boarding houses. The College is happy to work with agents but does not pay commission.

International Students Admissions

Ballarat Clarendon College enrol a small number of international students.

An English ability test is required for assessment for entry and the AEAS test is used for this purpose. There are various test centres which are listed on the AEAS website www.aeas.com.au. The results of this test will be sent to us with a recommendation of what entry level is most appropriate and how many weeks’ study of an intensive English language course is required prior to commencement of studies. Clarendon requires any ELICOS course to be undertaken at Avalon College in Lara just outside Geelong. Further details about study at Avalon are available at http://www.avaloncollege.vic.edu.au. Entry to the School will be conditional upon the student successfully completing their ELICOS course and obtaining a standard of English sufficient for them to enter the year level offered.

The School is registered to enrol international students from Years 5 to 12. The major intakes are at Years 9, 10 and 11 with Years 9 and 10 entry preferred as this enables a student to settle into the College, consolidate their English language skills and catch up on any shortcomings in the subjects they might intend to pursue in VCE. The College does not accept enrolments into Year 12.

In the first instance a student should register using the registration form on the website at http://www.clarendon.vic.edu.au/admissions/enrolment/. Once this form along with the necessary documentation, registration fee and AEAS Test report have been received the College will issue a Letter of Offer requesting –

  • Acceptance of Offer to be completed
  • Notarised translation of most recent school report
  • Parent Representative arrangements
  • Payment of monies detailed in the letter of offer. These include the prepaid first study period tuition and boarding fees, administration fee, enrolment deposit, overseas health cover and capital loan scheme contribution. All fees must be paid in Australian dollars.

Once documentation and funds are received and Parent Representative arrangements are in place the School will issue –

  • The Confirmation of Enrolment Form (CoE)
  • The Education Provider’s Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation/Welfare letter (CAAW), if required

These documents are necessary to apply for a student visa.
