Choose Your Boarding Preference
Bloxham offers provision for boarding, day boarding and limited places for day house students. Offers of places will be tied to a boarding preference, so it is very important to make your choice clear when registering. To find out more about the boarding and day options available.

Register Your Child
Registering your child will secure a provisional place at the school, which will be confirmed if they achieve the grades required in their entrance exams. Each prospective child must be registered before they can sit these exams and must sit the exams to earn a place at the school. Once you have decided to register your interest in our school formally, you will be asked to fill out our registration form and pay a fee of £200. Methods of payment are detailed within the registration form.

Entrance Examinations
Entrance examinations are held for those wishing to join at age 11 or 13. Sample papers are available from our Admissions team.

First Form Entry
Registered candidates will join an Assessment Morning which includes an interview, English, maths and verbal reasoning papers and activities to help the children relax and enjoy themselves. Examinations are taken in the first term of Year 6. For entry, the 11+ entrance examination is on 16th November .

Third Form Entry
Registered candidates will sit the ISEB Common Pre-test in the first term of Year 7. The tests are in English, maths, verbal and non verbal reasoning. Providing the candidate’s overall score when taken as a combination of performance in the four tested areas reaches the benchmark standard, they will be invited to attend Bloxham’s Assessment Day. This includes an interview and a group exercise.

Performance on the day will be scored to standard criteria and considered alongside a report from the candidate’s current school with each of the elements – entrance exam, interview, group exercise and school report – considered together.

For children not sitting the pre-tests at their current school, the tests will be taken at Bloxham for September entry on 16th November .

Sixth Form Entry
For Sixth Form entry, candidates are required to complete an application form and to attend an interview with the Headmaster or another senior member of staff, following which we can make a provisional offer of a place. Places are confirmed following satisfactory performance in the GCSE exams.

We would normally expect students to achieve a minimum of six GCSEs, including maths and English, at grades 9 to 5 (or grade equivalent). Students should achieve a grade 6 or above in those subjects they wish to take at A Level (and a grade 7, if studying maths and the sciences). For subjects with no associated GCSE, the grades achieved in other subjects will be taken into consideration. Entry onto A Level courses will be at the discretion of the Deputy Head, Curriculum.

International Pupils
Our admissions process, including entrance examinations, differs a little for those students who join us from overseas. For more details, please head to our International Admissions page.

International Pupils

At Bloxham, we extend a warm welcome to students who join us from overseas.

We are a friendly and inclusive school which celebrates diversity and values learning about other countries and cultures. Though only a small proportion of our community, international pupils settle very quickly into life here.

We are a small, nurturing school with an excellent reputation for pastoral care. International students are fully integrated into our pastoral system and placed alongside British students in seven senior boarding houses. This ensures they have every opportunity to meet and mix with British children, improve their English language skills and become fully engaged with our culture.

We welcome applications from students of all nationalities, with main entry points at age 13 (Third Form), 14 (Fourth Form) and 16 (Sixth Form).

Take our Virtual Tour for an introduction to the beautiful Bloxham campus, including classrooms, boarding houses and much more.
