Lamai International School opened its doors to the children of Koh Samui in January of 2016. Since then, the LIS Team has provided students with the highest level of education in a bright and flourishing environment. LIS has classes running from Foundation to Year 6 and has implemented a Cambridge Curriculum that is skillfully delivered by our qualified teachers. At LIS we encourage our students to be responsible citizens committed to a better world by also incorporating an Education for Sustainable Development component into our curriculum. The LIS ESD program is based on the UN Agenda 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, alongside an important element on Socio-Emotional Learning.

I think this is such a beautiful environment for kids, I'm a teacher myself and you know when other teachers are happy and content with the place. The teachers here are SO loving, kind, and caring. In most places now teachers aren't allowed to hug students, but the ones here are just so warm and welcoming. My son had never been to school before coming here, and he was made to feel so comfortable. They're super passionate, they don't have high teacher turnover which means most have been here for 5+ years. It's a lovely small school, for primary students only so the kids don't feel overwhelmed. Honestly so lovely, most teachers are Canadian, American, Filipino and South African aside from the Thai Teachers of course, which is also a wonderful bonus. As a person who is not a fan of the education system itself, I wouldn't choose anywhere else for my son. If we weren't a family with a home schooling philosophy he would have stayed here and I would have been really, really happy. Can't praise the staff here enough. At the end of the day it's all about how they make the kids feel.

My daughter was 5 yo when we arrived to koh samui. And she didnt speak english at all! 2 years in LIS and she could speak almost fluently! And its not only this... Its the right attitude, respect, care, logic...
All teachers are so creative, caring and passionated ! Incredible team! The Best memories for me and my daughter. Thank you , forever in our hearts.

Can I just begin by saying that I do not have any children or family members at this school, however, I wanted to leave a review because I rented a house right next to this school for around seven weeks, and each day, at 8.40am, the school would play the most delightful jingle/melody, which I would regularly hear at my accommodation.
I will always have fond memories of hearing that melody each morning and hearing the happy voices of the young children playing. As you get older, life becomes more difficult, with a lot of heartache, and it’s just so lovely to hear the voices of carefree children having fun and enjoying themselves. Hopefully I can come back one day and once again hear the delightful sounds emanating from this school.
