Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Graphic Design

Job Summary

Rafik Hariri University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Graphic Design at the Assistant Professor rank. Applicants must hold an M.F.A. or MA degree in Graphic Design or a closely related discipline. The Graphic Design program at RHU is a progressive and well-established program housed within the College of Science and Information Systems. The successful candidate should exhibit passion towards innovative teaching, curriculum development, departmental enhancements; as well as, community engagement. The candidate must have a student-centered learning approach that requires a firm commitment to student mentoring. Duties of the position include teaching 4 undergraduate studio courses per semester at all levels in addition to design foundation courses.

Duties and responsibilities

The candidates responsibilities include

• Teaching design studio courses at the undergraduate foundation and advanced levels, advising and mentoring students, applying modern teaching methods and modern instructional technologies and contributing to accreditation activities.
• Participating in curriculum development and assisting in the management of the program.
• Initiating creative ideas and events that could enhance the work of the students.
• Attending and participating in local/regional/national and international design lectures, conferences, projects and events.
• Engaging in the preparation of the Annual Design Exhibition.
• Rendering service to the college, university and community.

Educational and Special Requirements

The applicant must hold an MFA or MA in Graphic Design or a closely related field. The applicant must have a good command of the English language and must show effective oral and written communication skills. Applicants must display a commitment to scholarly work and research that will lead to exhibitions, lectures and conferences. They also need to have the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Strong communication skills are required.
