The objective of the National Schools of the Armenian Lebanese diocese is to nurture the new generation of the Lebanese Armenians with education till they reach university. They also aspire at preparing not only students with official exam diplomas, but also men who are morally steadfast with national and humane education, and who are at the same time conscious, responsible, and devoted Armenians and citizens.

Levon and Sophia Hagopian Armenian College, which was founded in 1964 in the heart of Bourj Hammoud, New Marash, has 231 students today. The college follows the curriculum of the Lebanese government. At the same time it nurtures its students with the educational plan of the Armenian National Schools.

The college has students from grade 7 to grade 12 with Life Sciences and Socio-Economics sections. The subjects are taught in Armenian, Arabic, and English Languages. The students are also introduced to the French language once a week.

The college also has a technical section, with BT1, BT2, and BT3 classes with accounting as a major. Students who have completed the 9th grade can continue their studies in the technical section. Passing the Brevet exam is not a must to continue in the technical section.

The students of BT3 sit for the governmental exams and get their equivalent diplomas. Art has its unique place in the educational curriculum of the college; the intermediate students have classes for singing, dancing, and painting.

Every month, the homeroom teachers choose the "Ideal Student" of their classes. During Parent-Teacher meetings, the “Ideal Students” get their letters of appreciation. At the end of the school year, the "Ideal" female and male students get their awards. After consulting with the teachers' staff, the administration chooses the "Ideal Student" of the college after eight months of awards. The college has a library of 25,000 books which is also in the service of the local inhabitants (The Public Library of Bourj Hammoud).
