At the LPF Academy, it is our aim to establish a culture in which our children develop a passion for learning that will serve their needs throughout and beyond school. It is our intention to create and maintain an ethos that encourages high standards, self-resilience, cooperation, enthusiasm and initiative.

The LPF Academy has a team of qualified, well trained and highly motivated teachers to suite the needs of a well planned curriculum. Strong consideration is given to appropriate qualifications, teaching experience and continuous staff development. The sports and recreational activities will be carried out by professional instructors, teachers, and coaches in supervised environments.

The LPF School’s network has, by now, expanded to several branches scattered all over the country through the Bridge to Peace program which is facilitated by the students and teachers of the LPF network itself. Aunty Bernie’s house is by now a home filled with love, happiness and grace. Staying true to her small school concept, Aunty Bernie is personally invested in all the students under her wing, making sure that the children are not judged for who they are, but are loved for who they are and whom they could become, with the right dose of encouragement, care and unconditional positive regard. Thus, she ensures that each and every child who passes through her doors steps out into the world as the best version of themselves and are ready to be all they want to be!

The elementary aged child (6-9 years) can be identified by three main characteristics: the move from concrete to abstract thinking, the development of reasoning ability, and a focus on social relationships. All three of these characteristics, the children are consciously taking charge of the learning and directing their questions, explorations, and connections based on personal interests and experiences.

Children ages 6 – 12 are in the second plane of development. This is a period of calmness, uniform growth and ta time of great capacity for learning. This period is also characterized as a time for imagination, cultural awareness and moral education. It is a magical time when children are driven to identify and know their place and function in this universe.

The middle school at LPF has undergone a major reconstruction of the educational modus operandi, which facilitates a shift in the philosophy of education the school strives to attempt: a student-centred model. Learning is seen as an active verb for which students take responsibility. They are held accountable for their time management. Rather than following a rigid schedule which controls the learning of the student, the student's needs are identified, and the resources necessary for each individual student to develop their knowledge and skills are facilitated. Through this method the students gain a strong awareness about where they stand in each subject, for which areas they need more attention, and therefore, they are able to better plan out their learning. In the words of a student who experienced this method few months before her IGCSE exams, it is ‘less stressful and much more efficient’.

LPF academy has a unique IGCSE and Advanced level program which we pioneered. “Education is an aid to life’, this foundation belied makes the school a microcosm of life: a community in which learners have rights and are offered opportunities to develop their maximum potential. They are perceived as “beautiful, powerful, competent, creative, curious and full of potential and ambitious desires”.

Coinciding with our 25th anniversary, we were happy to present the LPF philosophy, enriched by the principles of Maria Montessori and distilling the experiences of a decade of providing education in a clear and powerful counter-current to the restrictive mainstream of education.
