Lycée Louis Pasteur is Calgary’s premier French school. As a non-denominational private school, we welcome students ages 3 years old to Grade 12. We are located in the quiet, residential neighbourhood of Altadore. We are the only school in Calgary to teach the French Ministry of Education and Alberta Education curricula. Lycée Louis Pasteur is the only school in Calgary to offer programming of this nature.

The French curriculum is taught in French by French speakers, the majority of whom have received their teaching credentials from the French Ministry of Education. English is taught beginning in Kindergarten until Grade 12. Spanish is added to the curriculum in Grade 6 and is taught until Grade 12.

In addition to offering a unique curriculum, Lycée Louis Pasteur is a member of the AEFE, a network of 496 schools in 137 countries. In Canada, there are eight lycées. We are the only school in Calgary to teach the French Ministry of Education and Alberta Education curricula. This year, the Lycée is home to families from 34 nationalities and all linguistic backgrounds. If your family does not speak French at home you are not alone! 77% of Lycée families do not speak French at home. Lycée students are educated in a truly multicultural and multilingual environment, preparing them to become responsible citizens and leaders in a global community.

We are not a French immersion school or a Francophone school. These schools teach the Alberta Education curriculum in French. Lycée Louis Pasteur teaches the French Ministry of Education and Alberta Education curricula. We are the only school in Calgary to offer programming of this nature.

By teaching the French Ministry of Education and Alberta Education curricula, students get the best of both worlds. They receive a French education augmented by important Canadian content. Graduates have a deep understanding of both the European culture in which they are educated and the Canadian culture into which they are integrated.

The French curriculum is taught in French by French speakers. This school year, 96% of the teachers delivering the French curriculum have received their teaching credentials from the French Ministry of Education. The Alberta curriculum is taught in English by English speakers. We are the only school in Calgary to be a member of this prestigious network. Students can move from one establishment to another, allowing students to easily study abroad by joining another lycée. We are the only school in Calgary to offer programming of this nature.

Our approach emphasizes academic performance while also fostering a love of learning and life-long curiosity. Small class sizes ensure individualized attention for student and enhanced communication between parents and teacher. We offer a blended approach to teaching that is unique in Calgary. We use traditional European and progressive Canadian teaching styles. Students benefit from the best each approach has to offer. Classes and activities emphasize academic excellence, physical intellectual and emotional balance and responsible citizenship. Home work assignments and class activities are uploaded to educational software include video audio and homework files for parents.

Break camps offer a simple, flexible and convenient solution to childcare. Your child will love these camps! They will enjoy age-appropriate activities such as field trips, wall climbing, arts and crafts, and plenty of physical activity. The school year is divided into three trimesters. During each trimester, students receive one or two weeks of break. In total, students receive six break weeks during the school year and 8 weeks during the summer.

International students can study at Lycée Louis Pasteur as an exchange student via our reciprocal student exchange program. Alternatively, they can also enroll through our International Program. Thanks to our partnership with Canada Home stay Network, a non-profit organization that specialists in matching students and host families, students can spend one trimester, two trimesters or an entire school year at Lycée Louis Pasteur. Students are placed with an English-speaking host family allowing them to improve his/her English language skills while experiencing Canadian culture firsthand.
