With more than 20 years in education, Mahota Preschool embraces nature and pioneers a pedagogy derived from the insights of the interconnectedness of the world we live in. Our nature-inspired curriculum emulates nature in its diversity and richness, both in its programmes and its methodologies. We strive to develop the mind, body and spirit of the child, encouraging, in the process, the child’s development in eco-consciousness and eco-literacy.

The programme, from Playgroup to K2, addresses the physical, emotional, and intellectual capacities of the developing child through an age-appropriate curriculum that integrates the disciplines of movement and arts into the study of languages, sciences and mathematics. Through the development of these capacities, we strive to educate the whole child in a healthy and balanced manner.

Mahota Preschool is established to provide a high quality, comprehensive educational experience that supports each student’s academic, social, and emotional development and prepares them to be global citizens who are school, college, career and life ready.

Mahota Preschool aspires to be a school that draws out the inner potential of every child, to be a school that is enjoyable to teach in and invigorating to learn in, to be a school that graduates a future generation of capable, committed people around the whole who are ready for the challenges facing us. We want to achieve this consciously — thinking and acting together in a way that builds our own collective capacity and awareness.

  • Sharing brings out the best in each and every one of us
  • Symbiosis underpins the foundation of our inter-connectedness and interdependency
  • Integrity constitutes the strength of our character
  • Sense of responsibility ensures that we pursue our common future with sustainability of the community and environment in mind.

Purposeful Learning Setting goals, the children clarify what they want to get out of class. They are more self-directed and purposeful in their learning and more efficient with their time. According to research, children who set goals tend to be more persistent learners and more likely to achieve their educational goals. Thus, teaching the children to be more independent and resilience to failure and difficulties. Example, the children will be given a project such as collecting rainwater. The children will come up with questions, ways to collect the water and how to measure.

Discovery Learning – Discovering answers to their questions through investigation and hands-on experience with materials, building their questioning, critical-thinking skills and confidence, and enhance the children understanding of key academic concepts.

Experiential Learning – Learning through experience, and is more specifically defined as “learning through reflection on doing”. Hands-on learning is a form of experiential learning but does not necessarily involve students reflecting on their product.
