Dubai, UAE: Manchester City FC is bringing City Football Schools (CFS) to Dubai – giving young aspiring players the chance to develop their football skills under the expert guidance of professional coaches from the Premier League champions.
The CFS coaching team, who all trained and worked previously at the Etihad Campus in Manchester, will deliver football sessions to Dubai’s aspiring footballers at the sporting facilities of the newly-opened Brighton College Dubai and its neighbouring school, Dwight School Dubai.
After CFS’s success in Abu Dhabi, with programmes now based across a variety of venues including Emirates Palace, Zayed Sports City, New York University Abu Dhabi and The Officers Club Abu Dhabi, the club is now expanding to offer its coaching programme in Dubai.
Established in Abu Dhabi in 2011, the programme now has more than 1,000 children learning the City way each week, all under the guidance and supervision of 15 fully qualified City Football coaches. CFS aims to give both boys and girls the opportunity to improve their football skills, stay healthy, make friends and have lots of fun in a positive and friendly learning environment.
To celebrate the launch of City Football Schools Dubai, CFS will be holding free sessions for youngsters aged 3 to 16, on Saturday 13 October from 8:15am to 10.30am and throughout the week fromSunday 14October to Thursday 18October from 4.30pm to 8.30pm. Those joining the sessions will be able to get a taste of what it’s like to be a City player, take part in sessions with CFS coaches and hear all about the season ahead. Those attending the free sessions can also sign up to the new season, which will commence on Sunday 21 October.
The cornerstone of the training programme is to learn the same skills and techniques as those taught throughout Manchester City Football Club and instilled at the very top by first team manager Pep Guardiola.
Head of Football Operations MENA, Simon Hewitt, said:“It’s about enjoying football and from there the coaching team want to encourage and develop players of all ages and abilities. We’ve had a fantastic seven years with City Football Schools in Abu Dhabi and have always planned to bring the same set-up to Dubai. There is so much passion for the sport in the city.”
He added: “From this week we will be running coaching sessions in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai and it shows the determination of Manchester City to always make progress in youth development. All the coaches have trained at the Etihad Campus and been a part of that world class footballing facility – they bring those values and principles with them along with the City methodology to City Football Schools at Brighton College Dubai.”
