Mangere College is a school at the heart of its community. The board and staff celebrate the school’s multicultural composition. In particular, the school acknowledges the significant pasifika student community, and staff emphasise a strong sense of whanau, aiga and family within the college.
The Mangere College Board of Trustees strives to provide excellence in education for all of our students. It is accountable for our student progress and achievement to the whanau, community and the Government. The board has the overall responsibility and accountability for the running of Mangere College. The MC board aims to perform its functions and exercise its powers in such a way as to ensure that every student at the school is able to attain his or her highest possible standard in educational achievement, and to to Seek the Heights in all they do.
To empower our students to develop skills to become independent lifelong learners in an inclusive environment” is the vision of our Learning Support Department. The Learning Support Department supports students with a range of learning and behaviour needs, so that they experience success at Mangere College.
At our dedicated space, the Learning Support Centre assists students who have learning and behaviour difficulties in their mainstream classes. The additional support ranges from specialist support in literacy and numeracy, transitions, Teacher Aide support: in-class, 1-1, small group, mentoring, tutorial help to students who need assistance, constructive support to students whose behaviour affects learning and provide access to external agencies where appropriate.
