Marcos Madrigal, "The Cuban Treasure," performs at Dubai Opera

His dazzling programme includes Chopin’s Nocturnes in C-Sharp and C-Minor, Schumann’s Myrthen and Cuban Classics by Guastavino and Lecuona

On February 24th the award-winning pianist Marcos Madrigal performs in the intimate Dubai Opera Studio in Chapter 5 of Global Notes presented by Dubai Opera, Encore Performing Arts and the Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai. In this exclusive concert Marcos will be performing a stunning programme including, Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann and Frédéric Chopin, including Cuban composers; Carlos Guastavino, Aldo López-Gavilán and Ernesto Lecuona.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Marcos graduated with honours from The University of Arts of Cuba (ISA). He has performed in recitals, and as a soloist with Orchestras in many of the most renowned concert halls of the world, such as the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, the Auditorium Parco della Musica of Rome, the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, and the National Concert Hall of Dublin.

Madrigal has also collaborated on several projects with Oscar-winning composer Nicola Piovani, as well as with other distinguished composers in the film and theatre world. Since 2017 he has been the Artistic Director of Habana Clásica, an International Classical Music Festival held in Havana, Cuba. He has received several awards in prestigious international piano competitions and been awarded the International Award “Gold Medal Maison des Artistes”, granted by the Association for Culture, Arts, Science and Social Commitment at the Sapienza University of Rome.
