Welcome to The Meadows School! Our approach to learning combines a traditional education with a focus on 21st century skills. To this end, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity are mainstays of the classroom experience.
Students at The Meadows learn that education carries with it a responsibility to one's self, family, and community. Service learning is emphasized in all grades, culminating with specific hour requirements in the Upper School and an All-School Day of Service in the spring.
Our liberal arts philosophy towards teaching ensures students graduate with a love of learning and a well-rounded portfolio of educational experiences. At The Meadows, we believe that the most productive members of society are exposed to all scholastic disciplines. To that end, future lawyers study physics and future doctors read Shakespeare. Since 1984, The Meadows has been home to families seeking an extraordinary education for their children. We invite you to use this website as a starting point for your exploration into our community.
The Meadows School is a college preparatory, nonprofit, nonsectarian school founded on a traditional educational philosophy. We serve grades PreK-12 on a 40-acre campus in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas, Nevada. We are members of the National Association of Independent Schools and we are accredited by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools. Established in Las Vegas in 1984 by Carolyn Goodman, currently the city’s mayor, we boast a 100 percent four-year college placement track record, an 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and an environment that has produced both National Merit and Presidential Scholar recipients. Providing a diverse curriculum and activity roster, we offer 17 varsity sports; a variety of clubs focused on the arts, sciences, and service; and 24 Advanced Placement courses.
The Meadows School develops in its students a love of, and respect for, learning—inspiring them to seek knowledge independently and preparing them for higher academic pursuits. The School maintains high standards and seeks to instill in its students the concept that education carries with it an obligation to self, family, and community. It encourages each student to become a compassionate and productive member of the increasingly global society of the 21st century.
The Meadows School admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to the students of the School. It does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, religion, color, national, or ethnic origin. Our philosophy is:
The Meadows School believes that education is a three-way partnership between the student, the parent, and the School. Modeled after some of the oldest and most distinguished college preparatory schools in the nation, The Meadows takes a traditional approach to teaching, and challenges its students to achieve their maximum potential by "teaching to the top" in every classroom. In addition, The Meadows School maintains a 100% four-year college acceptance rate for all of its graduates and was ranked the fifth "Most Challenging Private High School in the Nation" by The Washington Post in 2015.
Highly qualified educators are at the heart of The Meadows’ innovative academic and extracurricular programs. Faculty members, most of whom have advanced degrees, are committed to providing a challenging learning environment for every student. The state-of-the-art campus promotes exploration and discovery while fostering a safe environment where students are encouraged to take the risks necessary to reach and surpass their potential. The admissions process supports this goal by admitting students and families who are committed to the mission of the School, and who will be active and positive members of a dynamic learning community.
We understand that selecting a school is one of the most important decisions you will make as a family. To that end, we offer our application packet and our website as avenues to learn even more about TMS. We believe, however, that the very best way to experience The Meadows is to join us for a visit.
