Mentari Intercultural School Bintaro (MISB, formerly MSB) was established in June 2004 by the Yayasan Perkembangan Anak Indonesia. Through MISB, The Yayasan strives to provide education that will give students the academic preparation needed for higher learning. Likewise, MISB equips students with the skills and attitudes needed to be responsible and socially conscious members of society.
As an SPK-Accredited School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) MISB is authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the Cambridge International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE) side by side with the Indonesian National Curriculum, providing all our students with a globally-recognised, reassuringly independent, and seamless route to success - both in and out of the classroom, at university and beyond.
MISB Junior High utilizes the Cambridge Junior Secondary Curriculum enriched with the revised National Curriculum of Indonesia and the best practices from international schools worldwide. It is a competency-based program where learning is focused on developing and providing skills and knowledge that will enable the individual to survive in a changing, challenging, unpredictable, and complicated world.
In Junior High School, English is the mainstream language of instruction and is used for the following subjects: Mathematics, Social Studies, Combined Sciences, Music and Arts and ICT. The subjects Civics (PKn), Bahasa Indonesia, P.E. and Religion are taught in Bahasa Indonesia. IPA and Matematika courses are integrated to start preparing the students for the National Examinations at the end of Grade 9.
As the students reach Grade 9, the Cambridge IGCSE Curriculum is introduced. It is a two-year program in preparation for the international curriculum of the Senior High School. Students choose their subjects with reference to their career options, the results of Career Assessment Tests and recommendations from subject teachers.
Students who will proceed to the International Programme would need to take IGCSE external examinations. The subjects offered under the IGCSE Program are: Mathematics, English (First Language atau Second Language), Sciences, Social Sciences, ICT, Mandarin, dan Arts & Music. Students are expected to take the exam at the end of Grade 10.
