Ming Wai Kindergarten was founded in 1968. In response to strong interest, Ming Wai Kindergarten introduced an international component to the institution. As a result, Ming Wai International Kindergarten and Ming Wai International Preschool (North Point Branch) were established in 2000.

Ming Wai Int’l Kindergarten & Ming Wai Int’l Preschool (Prince Edward Branch) was founded in 2010 to address the needs of parents situated in Kowloon, who are keen to enroll their children in our institution. Our five schools combine to offer both International and Local curriculums.

Both campuses are designed with a focus on safety and the environment. Our schools are furnished with imported anti-bacterial flooring from France. Our indoor and outdoor facilities include rock-climbing walls, slides, and swings, all imported from Germany. There are also art rooms, multimedia activity rooms, and library areas. Furthermore, learning corners catering to subjects such as Science, Languages, and general knowledge are placed in each classroom.

Ming Wai embraces the importance of language education during the early years. We have created a bilingual stream (English and Putongua) for our students with a curriculum that enriches all stages of child development.

An important aspect of early childhood education is the co-operation and communication between parents and teachers. In order to achieve a holistic approach to education, Ming Wai thrives on frequent communication with our students’ parents. This approach is an indispensable part of our students’ early childhood education and we regularly invite our parents to share their children’s progress with us as well as take into consideration their suggestions.

Every year our Ming Wai graduates are accepted into their preferred primary schools where they continue to achieve excellent results. Ming Wai has accumulated over a million graduates; many of our alumni have contributed to Hong Kong’s successful development and prosperity. Some of our graduates are now parents of Ming Wai students and it is this family tradition that humbles and motivates both the school and myself.

We are committed to fostering an innovative and enjoyable early childhood learning experience. Furthermore, we strive to provide a high quality holistic educational environment that promotes cognitive, emotional intelligence, creativity, physical, and language skills, all of which lay a solid foundation for future academic success.

Every class is taught by native English-speaking and Putonghua-speaking teachers. Our program follows the curriculum set out by the HK Education Bureau and incorporates a Western early childhood education approach. We focus on the development of language skills using Phonics and multi-media programs, and encourage independent thinking and love of learning.

Students acquire language skills and develop discipline from activity-based learning and gameplay in a fun and interactive environment. Every class is taught by native English-speaking and Cantonese-speaking teachers. Mandarin programs are also available. The Preschool Program serves as good preparation for progression to our International Kindergarten.

Extracurricular activities such as our Road Safety Patrol Team, Happy Bee Team, and Grasshoppers Team provide students with the opportunity to participate in community activities. These activities develop their independence and social skills and lay the foundation for future integration into society as they learn obedience and discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills.

Ming Wai was established nearly half a century ago and since then has consistently evolved with innovative advancements in education. Throughout the years, Ming Wai has continuously strived to provide the highest quality of education for all of our students.
