Miss Porter's School educates young women to become informed, bold, resourceful and ethical global citizens. We expect our graduates to shape a changing world. Located in the center of Farmington, Connecticut, Porter's is a college preparatory boarding and day school for girls in grades 9 through 12. Founded in 1843 by lifelong scholar and educator, Sarah Porter, our school's dynamic, rigorous approach to education prepares girls to expand their minds and grow into socially engaged, confident, young women.

In keeping with our founder’s vision, Miss Porter’s School joins tradition with innovation to provide an exemplary education to young women. Generation after generation, our leadership is defined by our ability to articulate how young women think, how young women learn, and why gender matters. Within our legacy lies our future.

Our world is shifting and changing every day. At Miss Porter’s School, we prepare our students for global change with a dynamic, interdisciplinary approach to learning. As balanced, thoughtful women, our graduates set out to shape the world. See how our students are using their awareness, determination, and intellect to solve some of the world’s urgent problems and address humanity’s timeless questions.

Through engagement with the arts, both in the classroom and in the community, our students foster their individuality, their artistic voice, and their creativity. With the guidance of teachers who are all working artists, students hone their crafts within a supportive and challenging environment. Each arts program is enhanced by interdisciplinary opportunities, visiting artists, and experiences in the field. Funded programs, including the Fritzinger, Wilkie Bilkie, and Prescott, allow our students to engage with professional artists.

Miss Porter's School provides young women with a rigorous and excellent liberal arts education. Our curriculum challenges students to think and work collaboratively and creatively, make connections among disciplines, and apply knowledge to increasingly complex problems. Our students think critically and analytically, communicate authentically, and develop the strategies necessary to become competent, confident, and compassionate leaders in a global environment.
