Welcome to Monks Orchard Primary School Our school was built in 1936, as a single-form of entry, local authority school. We are now a thriving school with over 200 pupils, aged between 3 and 11 years. In 2018 we joined Fairchildes Academy Community Trust (FACT), a small, locally run multi-academy trust with a clear focus on working together to put children and families first.
We are extremely lucky to have a large site with substantial green spaces and a large forest/nature area. This allows ample space for games, and learning in the outdoors environment is a feature of all year groups’ learning.
At Monks Orchard, staff work together, sharing best practice in order to create a happy school, where the working atmosphere is informal but focussed. We place great emphasis on teamwork and developing together, and provide a wide range of opportunities for teachers to work together and with others both in school and across the trust. We recognize that this benefits everybody in the school community.
Our aim is to make children’s time at school as successful and enjoyable as possible. We encourage a close working relationship between home and school to support this aim and welcome parents’ active interest in both their child’s development and the general life of the school.
At Monks Orchard, everything we do starts with our children and our community. We know our children as individuals; as young people with dreams and ambitions, skills and difficulties, likes and dislikes - not just as statistics. No generic, 'one size fits all,' scheme or programme could possibly meet the needs of all of our children, so we plan and deliver our own exciting, creative activities that motivate, challenge and drive them to achieve excellence.
A child’s family and community are a vital ingredient in a successful education. Our teachers work very hard to involve parents and carers and want to build strong, open, working relationships with you, so do come and talk to them.
School Aims
Our trust's principles are:
At Monks Orchard we aim to provide a happy and stable school environment. All children are given full access to the National Curriculum, which enables them, regardless of their abilities, gender, ethnic or social background, to reach the highest standards by realising their potential, developing talents and strengthening weaknesses in all areas.
We aim to ensure that every member of the school community feels valued and respected, and that each person is treated fairly and well. We are a caring community, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect for all.
