At Moorland we aim to give your child the very best education in close partnership with you so that we can develop every child’s full potential. We work closely with a broad range of outside agencies and organizations in the wider community in order to ensure an exciting and meaningful curriculum for all our learners. The staff at Moorland plan and organize their classrooms so that the children are well motivated and enjoy being at school. We create a caring environment with an emphasis on cooperation and mutual respect.

The primary years of education are a critical time for your child. Values and attitudes are formed and an enormous amount is learnt. We aim to provide a Centre of educational excellence in the community, catering for the needs of every child. Your partnership in this aim is greatly valued and we ask for your support to achieve this. If you have time to spare, or a skill to share, or just want to see what is going on you have an open invitation to come and see us at any time.

Moorland Primary School was founded in 1891. It is well maintained, well resourced and in good condition. The children from Year 1 to Year 6 are based in the main school building while the children in nursery and reception are based in the early year’s unit across the playground. Moorland caters for children between the ages of 3 and 11. The underlying aim of the school is to provide a happy, caring and secure environment in which the children thrive and develop intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially.

The content of the School Curriculum meets the requirements of the National Curriculum for 3 to 11 year olds. The emphasis is on the acquisition of the basic skills of literacy, numeracy and ICT with the integration of the subjects of the National Curriculum within a chosen context for learning. The curriculum is broad and balanced, meeting the needs of each child depending on their interests and stages of development. Those pupils who have learning difficulties will be given additional help, whilst those who are at more advanced stages of development are appropriately challenged and extended
