We are a restorative, holistic and dyslexia-friendly school for boys with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, set in beautiful surroundings, offering day and residential placements.

Our highly trained, dedicated and caring staff are committed to providing every young person in our care with the opportunity to reach their full potential through individualised bespoke packages. We have a strong record of success, with our young people moving on to further education, employment and training.

By the very nature of the school designation behavior and discipline will occupy a fair proportion of time in school. Whilst not condoning any anti-social, disruptive, violent or aggressive behavior, it must be understood such behavior will form part of our children’s communication. Problems are normal where children are learning and testing boundaries of acceptable behaviour. In order to become balanced young adults, our children will need to take risk and make mistakes. It is essential that all staff see behaviour communication in a similar light, work together to understand it and respond appropriately to it, with similar aims in mind.

Each child is a special individual, his unique self. We must strive to make each child believe that they are of worth and have qualities that we value. Children must know that whilst we will not always approve of their behavious, we will always approve of the child. However objectionable the behaviour may appear, we must clearly show the child that we are not rejecting him as an individual. We aim to provide a caring and nurturing environment and we work with the children in a therapeutic way, with empathy and understanding. Working with this policy in a consistent way will empower adults to not only behaviour accordingly.

We intend to create a caring learning environment by pursuing the following aims:

  • To promote good behaviour and discipline at all times.
  • To promote self-esteem, self discipline, proper regard for authority and positive relationships based on mutual respect.
  • To promote a positive attitude to learning
  • To provide a safe environment free from disruption, violence, bullying and any form of harassment.
  • To have a restorative approach to resolving issues.
  • To ensure fairness of treatment for all
  • To provide consistent and effective support for staff and pupils
  • To ensure that staff, pupils and parents are aware of the expected standards of behaviour and work together to uphold them.

I am an ex pupil at Mountonhouse school I was emotionally absused and black mailed by staff and assaulted wile they call it restraining, they pick on kids at the school and black mailed us to be good when there was school inspections offering us trips and tokens if we was good will inspectors where at the school there is no was of easy learning at Mountonhouse staff ganging up on pupil's and they used to drag us to time out rooms and provoke us to the point where we go mad then they try and snap your arms and lags of. If you misbehave you get deprived of meals and get what they call a working group where you could find yourself doing school work after school hours because you was provoked we used to run away to get away from the school because the way it was run I advice an investigation takes place at Mountonhouse before you place your vulnerable children here I have left school in 2012 and when I left my education was worse of then when I started
