At Nichols School, students are encouraged every day not only to be accepting of challenge, but excited by it. Through caring guidance and unwavering support, they are inspired to face academic, athletic, creative and social growth with confidence, determination and joy. The ease with which our students approach new learning opportunities and experiences becomes a mark of their characters, and is an asset that continues to open doors for them throughout their lives.

As an independent school with an average class size of 14, exceptional teachers go the extra mile and personally commit to understanding each student. They shape the intensive and extensive curriculum as they see fit, making learning rewarding and relevant. As a result, our students are empowered to think critically, creatively, and go beyond the test.

The students at Nichols learn to embrace challenge and grow from the wide array of opportunities available at our school. From fifth grade through 12th grade, dedicated and experienced faculty members are empowered to craft a rich curriculum to make learning relevant for each student. Outside the classroom, Nichols students do not hesitate to make their mark, whether on the playing field, on the stage, in the lab, or throughout Western New York. With the support of the community, students eagerly pursue their passions and approach new experiences with confidence.

We have now entered a period of time where every school across the country has had to accept the challenge of educating students virtually. Our school has had to answer many of the difficult questions every school has faced: What does a school day look like online? How do we continue to care for our students? How can we foster a sense of community in this new environment? As a school, we have considered these questions with open minds and caring hearts.

In our Middle School, young minds and bodies are prepared for success in the Upper School, but special attention is devoted to developing HEART by our faculty. How students care for one another and for the world around them, how they learn to lead and serve others, and how they learn to embrace their unique voice in our school community is of the utmost importance. These lessons are instilled at school meetings, in the classroom (online and offline), and in advisory groups as students find a sense of belonging.

When students join our Upper School in ninth grade, they are encouraged to discover broader perspectives in a dynamic, energizing, and inspiring environment. Students are taught to think critically and to speak their minds with eloquence and conviction, preparing them for leadership positions now and in the future. A robust curriculum gives students the chance to explore subjects they are passionate about in preparation for the next stage of their education.

As a parent, I am extremely satisfied with the quality of education my child receives at Nichols School. The teachers are dedicated and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure the students succeed. My child has made significant progress since joining the school, and I couldn't be happier with their overall experience.
