Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences

University is a place where dreams and hopes are nurtured. Since the Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences is a life sciences university comprising of the Faculty of Pharmacy for primarily training pharmacists that are essential for healthcare, and the Faculty of Applied Life Sciences for training human resources for the fields of bioscience, environment and food, it is an environment that makes it easier for students to set their goals in terms of which pathways they would take in the future and who they could contribute to society. What is important is to actively engage in trying to make intangible dreams and hopes into something concrete.

Based on the dignity of life and through education/research of pharmacy and life science, we will nurture promising human resources who have a high degree of professionalism and rich humanity that contribute to health enhancement, environmental conservation, international exchange and community evolution, and produce research results that are beneficial for social progress and cultural enhancement.

How can one do that? It is important to not only to understand the individual subjects that one studies in lectures, but it is also important to understand how each of those subjects relate to one another. Take for instance a jigsaw puzzle. One can see how each piece connects to another from the characteristics of individual pieces. One can complete the puzzle by judging where the connected part is supposed to be placed in the overall image. In this way, it is crucial to grasp the big picture by integrating individualized knowledge for future growth.

We would like you to be keenly aware of the necessity to make efforts to make your dreams and hopes more concrete and to realize them. At the Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences, we have many brilliant teaching staff who are active in their fields, and fellow students who are studying with the same aim.

We aim to cultivate "pharmacists working at the center of community healthcare" who are equipped with knowledge and humanity appropriate for healthcare professionals through the study of ethics and problem solving abilities required in medical practice, as well as advanced knowledge of the relationship between the properties of chemical substances and life, illness and drug therapy.

Based on "life sciences" learned from the world filled with nature and human life, we aim to nurture:

• Human resources with knowledge of new sciences and technologies such as bioscience who would play active roles in the fields of food and environment.
