Founded in 1873 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, a teaching order from Germany, Notre Dame Preparatory School is one of Baltimore's oldest Catholic, college preparatory schools for girls. The school's original mission, to foster academic excellence, spiritual growth and practice of social justice in its students, has inspired more than 6,000 living alumnae and continues to inspire the approximately 800 girls currently enrolled in grades 6-12.
Notre Dame Preparatory School educates and empowers girls to become women who transform the world. As a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 through 12, Notre Dame Prep inspires students to pursue academic excellence, spiritual growth and the practice of justice. Infused with the spirit of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church, the NDP community strives to answer God’s call “…to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with God.” We believe:
Collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking are central to Notre Dame’s academic program. Our students challenge themselves and succeed in a rigorous and exciting program of study, led by an experienced, talented and committed faculty. NDP’s Middle Level serves adolescent girls who possess both the motivation and the ability to succeed in a rigorous academic curriculum while immersed in the spiritual and extracurricular life of the school. Developmentally appropriate, the program features engaging and active learning that spans all disciplines. After completing the Middle Level experience, our students are prepared for high school having become more loving, just, and wise. NDP’s Upper Level college prep curriculum provides both foundational liberal arts classes and subject-specific courses designed to ignite passions. All classes are required for admission into the nation’s leading colleges and universities.
Each year, 100% of NDP seniors gain admission to the country’s most competitive colleges and universities, are inducted into 11 honor societies, receive National Merit recognition, and attain high scores on both SAT and AP exams. In addition to their academic achievements, they win awards in drama, art, essay writing, and music, demonstrating that Notre Dame Preparatory School students are well-rounded as they are well prepared.
Technology at Notre Dame Prep centers on the belief that sensible technology—that is technology that advances learning goals—can enhance teaching, motivate learning, and prepare students to meet the technological demands of higher education and the workplace. Faculty and students use technology to develop meaningful 21st-century skills, such as communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving. Throughout our campus-wide wireless environment, the integration of technology is woven into the NDP curriculum, and students receive a state-of-the art education adaptable to whatever path their lives take after graduation.
Students may purchase their own device meeting the published minimum requirements or they may purchase through the NDP Technology Purchase Program. Annually, NDP offers a vetted Microsoft Windows device for purchase as a cost of approximately $1,200. Purchasing through NDP’s program includes full hardware and software on-site Help Desk support from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, on-site manufacturer hardware replacement parts (usually within 24 hours turn-around), a laptop loaner program, and all software upgrades for Microsoft products while the student is enrolled at NDP.
In addition, all incoming 9th and off-grade Upper Level students are required to attend one of two, three-day summer Laptop Camp and Orientation sessions in preparation for high school, regardless if they purchased their devices through NDP’s program or not. These sessions are filled on a first-come first-served basis.
To infuse technology into the NDP experience in order to enrich our students’ learning, broaden the perspective from which they view the world, and empower them as they move beyond our walls, while encouraging and promoting 21st century technology skills and digital citizenship.
