Oasis Academy Blakenhale Infants is a co-educational school, which admits children between the ages of 3 and 7 years situated in Garretts Green, Birmingham. The original school was built in 1952. Oasis Academy Blakenhale Infants is a rapidly improving school. Our recent re-design of our EYFS building and internal improvements has allowed us to design a school that fits the needs and purposes of our pupils.
We have delightful children who are happy, thoughtful and really engaged in their learning. We aim to be at the heart of our community and care about the provision we offer all our pupils. From Nursery to Year 2, each child has the benefit of staff dedicated to encouraging them along the journey of learning and discovery, within the security of a caring atmosphere where all staff in partnership with parents and carers work together.
At Oasis Academy Blakenhale Infants we live our Academy Ethos by:
At Oasis Academy Blakenhale Infants our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of our children, with a carefully structured framework in place to ensure that the essential key skills in each subject area are taught and developed. This approach ensures that even our youngest learners begin to develop their own personal tool kit of skills which they can expand as they journey through our academy. Much of our curriculum is taught through topics to make learning experiences more meaningful. These topics are taught using the International Primary Curriculum.
Some subjects are taught separately all or some of the time. Subjects may be delivered through a themed week or day or through a shorter block, rather than a lesson each week. Over the course of the year children will have received a broad and balanced curriculum. There is a whole school focus on providing practical activities, which enable powerful first hand learning. The curriculum is further enhanced through a range of enrichment activities such as cookery, trips, visitors, specialist workshops and cultural experiences which promotes engagement and enjoyment of learning amongst our children.
One of our key enrichment programmes is our Sport and PE programme. We employ highly trained sports coaches, who support pupils in early physcial development (Gross Motor Skills) and fitness in EYFS. This includes developing key skills in a range of sports which are then built upon throughout key stage 1.
We also organise whole school enrichment afternoons, which are exciting ways to get our pupils interested in and inspired by the world around them. Building new skills we aim to help our children gain a better understanding of how to be in the wider world.
