Oasis Academy South Bank is a Secondary school and Sixth Form serving children aged 11-18 in London Waterloo. Through love, nurture and a rigorous academic focus our vision is to support every child and help them climb the stairs to greatness, becoming model citizens and future leaders. Oasis Academy South Bank opened in September 2013. There are 600 students in total between Year 7 and Year 11. We have 120 places available in our Sixth Form. We serve our local community and were awarded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.
All young people, regardless of starting point, will ‘Climb the STAIRS to Greatness’ at Oasis Academy South Bank. Through love, nurture and a rigorous academic focus, Oasis Academy South Bank students will ultimately be successfully and happily employed in a career with prospects and become model citizens.
Our ethos is rooted in what we believe and who we are. Grounded in our story, it is an expression of our character; a set of values that inform and provide the lens on everything we do.
It is these ethos values that we want to be known for and to live by. We are committed to a model of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope, and perseverance throughout all the aspects of the life and culture of every Oasis Hub and academy community.
We encourage every member of our family, be that staff or student, to align themselves to these ethos values. The values themselves are inspired by the life, message and example of Jesus but we make it clear that we will not impose on anyone, the beliefs that underpin our ethos values. We recognise and celebrate the richness that spiritual and cultural diversity brings to our community, respecting the beliefs and practices of other faiths in the hope that we will provide a welcoming environment for all.
At Oasis Academy South Bank we want our students to enjoy learning, make great progress and achieve exceptional outcomes. In order to do this we use a range of methods to determine what each individual student does well and develop the areas they need to improve upon.
Our lessons are planned carefully to take into account the strengths and the developmental areas of every student in order to enable them to progress in each subject. In addition to the assessment for learning that take place in class, we report formally to parents and carers throughout the year. These reports contain information about progress and attainment in every subject as well as important learning information such as attendance, home learning, effort and next steps.
We value our partnerships with parents and carers and we are committed to holding individual meetings with every student and parent each year. This is a dedicated time when parents meet with class teachers to discuss what is working well and how to improve discussing subject specific priorities and progress. In addition, individual meetings are arranged in all year groups when there is a concern about a student’s learning. This is a great chance to find out what your child has been learning in each of the areas of the curriculum and to see more about where their talents lie.
