Olivet Christian College was established in 1979 as an Ecumenical co-educational Christian school for Years F - 10 students.  Year 10 registration is provisionally re-instated due to there being less than 40 Secondary students in total.

Situated in Central Victoria (near Castlemaine) three College-owned buses run daily from Bendigo (Kangaroo Flat and Strathfieldsaye) and Maryborough via Carisbrook and Newstead.

Olivet has a caring family atmosphere and a strong emphasis on developing character. All staff are committed Christians with a passion as teachers to see their students achieve success in demonstrating academic excellence and consistent moral character. Highlights include a strong work ethic among students, Buddy program, a great range of extra-curricula activities, and healthy staff-student relations.

Christian Education is seen as a partnership with parents to encourage, equip and empower students for life. The main mission of the college is to prepare students effectively, spiritually and academically, for today’s world. The total curriculum encompasses individual learning as well as group learning. The College is committed to a program of continual improvement and development in the quality and scope of the education provided. The Australian Curriculum is embedded into the program with some of the ACE Pace's retained in certain classes.  Standards of personal conduct, school policies and curriculum aim to continue to build students’ sense of responsibility and integrity.

Olivet provides an ordered, supportive, stable and academically challenging learning environment within an atmosphere of Christian love and discipline. The College endeavours to encourage all students to achieve their God-given potential, to equip them with the necessary life skills needed, and to empower them to be confident, active participants in the community in which they will serve.

The staff of Olivet Christian College are dedicated Christians who, through their teaching, demonstrate an active faith in God. Together we aim to provide quality educational opportunities for all students including those with special needs. By providing an ordered, supportive and academically challenging learning environment, within an atmosphere of Christian love and discipline, we endeavour to encourage the children to achieve their God-given potential.

We value your support and welcome your involvement both in the classroom and during special events. Olivet expects parents to be involved in parent teacher interviews, working bees, Dedication Night, Presentation of Awards to students and other special functions like camps, carnivals, and sports days.

THE PARENTS who have the primary responsibility for the training of their children, but who, in a practical way, need help with this task. The basis of each child’s character, and the attitudes and values they encompass, are laid early in life. THE TEACHERS who endeavour to support parents by teaching children about God and encouraging them to develop a relationship with Him and to value their fellow man and themselves. Essentially we do this by setting an example for them to follow in the ways we relate to each other and live our daily lives. THE CHURCH equips individuals for ministry by bringing them to maturity within the Body. Church attendance is not compulsory but is encouraged, particularly Bible School and Youth Groups for students.

In the spirit of Romans 13, this school community acknowledges with thankfulness to God, that the school is able to prosper under the principles and practices of a democratic nation and the policy frameworks of both its Federal and State Governments. We acknowledge with gratitude, yet without taking it for granted, that we, together with all Australian citizens, have the freedom to pursue our religious beliefs and to live out of a religious worldview that is founded upon those beliefs.

We honour and commit to the fundamental freedoms of speech and association for all Australians so long as those freedoms are not used to subvert the rule of law. We accept the right of our elected Governments and their officers to prescribe certain conditions pertaining to the programs and teaching practices of schools.

Our school acknowledges that all persons are entitled to be treated equally before the law and, as far as it lies within our capacity to do so, we will endeavour to treat the members of our community with equity and fairness. While not in any way compromising the integrity of our own beliefs and values, we are committed to living in peace with our fellow Australians irrespective of differences in faith, race or culture.  We are committed to the social value of respect for persons which derives from our reverence for Christ whose sacrifice was not limited but, instead, available for all those who would come to him in trust and faith.

In unashamedly declaring that our school is committed to an education that references its programs and policies to a Christian worldview, the school is open to families of any faith who seek and support an education based on Christian principles and standards. Finally, the school is open to the normal processes of accountability required by Governments and commits to ethical and transparent practices in respect of each of those requirements.
