Oulu University of Applied Sciences

Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oulu UAS) is one of the biggest universities of applied sciences in Finland. We educate competent and innovative professionals and conduct active research and development. In co-operation with our partner institutions we create new vitality to the northern region.

We provide bachelor's and master's degree studies, pedagogic studies at the School of Vocational Teacher Education, professional specialisation and open university studies as well as supplementary training.

Welcome to Oulu is the biggest city in Northern Finland and Northern Scandinavia. Oulu’s population is one of the Europe’s youngest. Over the third of the residents are under 25 years of age. Oulu is known for it’s technology but also vivid and versatile cultural life. At the same time nature is close and easy to reach.

To reach the targets set in the strategy, Oamk must succeed in the named key areas. The cornerstones of the strategic operations of Oamk are its competent personnel, talented students, the innovation cluster in Oulu, and the network of higher education institutions and research institutes in Northern Finland.

At Oulu UAS quality work is done daily. The entire staff, students and stakeholders take part in the quality assurance work by participating in working groups and providing feedback. We believe that good results will be achieved when the operations are planned, monitored, evaluated and developed systematically.

In Oulu UAS, the international co-operation is seen as a part of quality. Oulu UAS develops itself and new professional know-how in co-operation with domestic and international education and research communities. We have a wide international network of partner universities and enterprises in over 30 countries. Together with our 170 international partner institutions we prepare both students and staff for intercultural considerations and for acting in international operating environment.

Excellent study and teaching facilities with versatile leisure time activities make the Oulu region and Oulu UAS a popular destination for students and experts from all around the world. Since autumn semester 2015 all curricula of our Bachelor's programs include a full semester (30 credit units) where courses are taught fully in English.

We are continuously developing our international co-operation and warmly welcome new exchange students, degree seeking students and all new international partner institutions.
