Welcome to Penn State Hazleton! Penn State Hazleton is a friendly, welcoming, student-centered campus of about 900 students. Penn State Hazleton is an integral part of Penn State University - a university with an international reputation.

A Penn State education opens many doors to intellectual, personal, and professional development; career opportunities; and further lifelong education. The Penn State Hazleton experience includes classes that are generally small, along with a faculty and staff that take great pride in giving students individual attention. Our faculty includes award-winning teachers and scholars who care a great deal about their discipline, are committed to teaching and learning, and focus on the educational experience they provide students.

Penn State Hazleton offers opportunities for residential or commuter students, traditional or adult returning students, and degree and non-credit offerings. Some of our students complete their baccalaureate degrees at the University Park campus or at one of Penn State's other campuses after completing two years at Hazleton. A growing number of students who choose to stay at Hazleton are offered a range of options including five associate degrees and ten baccalaureate degrees. These include our newer degrees in Project and Supply Chain Management, Administration of Justice, Corporate Communication, and Rehabilitation and Human Services.

Through our Continuing Education Office, we offer credit and non-credit programs for individuals preparing for the workplace or for those who wish to improve their workplace skills. We also provide access to education and training for business, industry, and government in the greater Hazleton area. Our Continuing Education office also provides access to a wide variety of other Penn State resources, including industrial research, technology transfer, available technologies, and cooperative extension services. Our signature offering in Continuing Education is our Practical Nursing program. This evening and weekend program is a proven favorite for area adults looking for a new career pathway in health services. The offerings for healthcare programs recently expanded to include the nurse aide and clinical medical assisting programs. In each of our roles - undergraduate education, research, lifelong learning, and community service - the Hazleton campus seeks to make a difference. We are proud of Penn State Hazleton.

Penn State Hazleton upholds the highest standards in teaching and learning, while extending students' access to the entire Penn State University. Through its student-centered approaches, academic excellence, research, service to the community, and campus diversity, Penn State Hazleton advances knowledge, creativity and opportunity.

Penn State University offers baccalaureate degrees, associate degrees and minors, as well as credit and non-credit certificates in a wide variety of disciplines. Penn State Hazleton also offers the first two years of more than 275 Penn State majors, allowing students to transition to University Park or another Penn State campus to complete their degree.

Penn State’s extensive course offerings, exciting and diverse student activities and great facilities provide a solid learning environment leading to academic excellence. Among the special academic opportunities at Penn State Hazleton, there is an active Honors Program for students who wish to take advantage of academically enriching activities and classes. The campus also has an international emphasis, with a new global region as a focus each year. Many faculty also offer students opportunities to participate in undergraduate research.

Academic advisers help students identify and achieve their academic goals through directed interaction with both faculty and professional advisers. The intention is to facilitate informed decision making in and out of the classroom. Since advising is a shared enterprise, both advisers and advisees need to be actively engage in the process. Advisers encourage advisees to become engaged in their education, to meet their educational goals, and to develop the habit of learning. Ultimately, advisees will assume final responsibility for the successful completion of their program requirements.

The Penn State Hazleton Honors Program provides academically talented students with learning experiences that challenge them to strive toward their full potential. Through the honors experience, students have the opportunity to become productive individuals who continuously learn, apply and shape knowledge.

Students at Penn State Hazleton can participate in the Penn State Education Abroad program and study in foreign countries for varying periods of time — a week, a summer, a semester, or a full year. The objective is to offer our students a broader education than can be obtained through classroom experiences. To help foster this mindset, the University has developed a number of international minors that will guide interested students toward the achievement of their academic goals with a focus on the larger global community.

Student aid provides the means to permit eligible students the access to a post secondary education that otherwise would not be possible. Generally speaking, the student's family is expected to be the primary means of support for meeting college costs. However, when that is determined insufficient, student aid can be the resource to assist in costs for the student's education.
