We benefit from a broad and balanced curricular, extracurricular programs and strong community links. We endeavor to help each child discover new interests and develop their talents. We believe in joint responsibility and distributed leadership. We will use every opportunity to develop a caring community, where every child and adult is accepted as an individual. We have the school nurse to visit Year 6 pupils in the summer term to speak to them about growing up (this requires parental consent); the nurse visits reception children to record their weight and height and tests the hearing of year 1 pupils.

We have a complaints procedure should you have concerns regarding the curriculum. We have a varied program of interventions to support pupils with SEN (the SEN Policy is available at the school office or online). Those pupils who have Special Needs are identified by their teacher in close liaison with the Special Needs coordinator (SENco); appropriate arrangements are made for these pupils including support within lessons and withdrawal for extra help.

We have a daily collective act of worship and Religious Education is part of our curriculum (parents may request for their children to be withdrawn). We are an English medium school. Welsh is taught as a second language the use of Welsh is integral to the school and is used throughout the school by pupils of all age groups. We have strong link between our school and the Welsh department of Radyr Comprehensive School through annual transition activities and regular meetings.

At Pentyrch Primary School our ultimate goal is for our school to be a happy, caring and supportive community where each child has the opportunity to realize their learning potential. From these secure beginnings we hope our children will emerge as confident, responsible and considerate citizens.
