At Pillars Preparatory Academy, we go above and beyond the definition of “school.” Pillars Preparatory Academy is committed to providing an academically rigorous, student-centered learning environment in which students are nurtured and prepared for success in college and beyond. Our nursery program at Pillars is far beyond what a regular daycare has to offer. This class gives our nurturing Teachers an opportunity to bond with your little ones and develop trust with parents. Each child will have a teacher who will be designated to guide your child’s development. In our Infant class the children will be provided with a stimulating, warm and safe environment. Our unique approach in developing Toddlers thru our curriculum is providing them with a perfect balance of learning, playtime and nurturing each day.

Independent exploration, structured activities and hands on learning are all major components in our Preschool Program. Your children are gaining communicative and social skills. They are becoming more aware of themselves and their peers. Our Preschool program provides the children with a strong and dynamic foundation that allows them to grow academically and socially. ELA curriculum is aligned to the Common Core Standards. Everyday, at least two periods of the students’ day are dedicated to further developing oral vocabulary, phonics, comprehension, fluency, grammar, and writing skills.

Math curriculum is aligned to the Common Core Standards. Students work to continue to solidify number sense and fluency. Students are challenged to utilize higher-level thinking and their problem-solving skills when working with place value, time, money, geometry, and organizing, representing, and interpreting data.

Pillars Preparatory Academy’s mission is to provide a well-rounded, character-building education through challenging interdisciplinary curricula guiding interactive learning that is delivered in a rigorous academic environment from the moment our students join us to embark upon their educational venture. Special attention is given to the development of and implementation of effective, research supported Language Arts and Math programs to provide our students with the content knowledge and skill sets necessary for success throughout their educational careers and beyond.

Literacy is entwined into every facet of life and if students are to be successful it is essential that all critical components be taught, modeled, practiced, and assessed for learning. At the elementary level, the Literacy Program is built around nine components of effective instruction. Each component is strategically aligned in a carefully planned sequence allowing for scaffolding and student success as new skills are taught and rigor intensified.

Pillars Preparatory Academy will have a small school environment where students have access to individual atten­tion from teachers and the administration, which improves student outcomes, grades and test scores. Thanks to our moderate class sizes, teachers can modify lessons and uti­lize different pedagogical techniques to cater to the individual styles of learning. The Curriculum of Pillars Preparatory Academy offers students an opportunity to study a rigorous curriculum. Standardized testing is a focal point of the Curriculum. SAT Preparation courses are offered starting from 9th Grade. AP and Honor courses will be offered for those who have excelled at advanced pace. Our low student to teacher ratio and supporting envi­ronment, allow for teachers to work together with students, parents and administrators to ensure that each student maximizes his/her true potential.
