Plymouth Marjon University sits on a green and spacious campus, with world-class facilities in a spectacular part of the world. But the thing that most makes us stand out is our students. They are the inspiration and motivation for all we do. Here, students build strong working relationships with a network of supporters, from their Personal Development Tutors to their lecturers to the Student Union, and therefore achieve more than they ever thought possible. They work side-by-side with us to improve and develop the University to make their experience as rich and rewarding as possible.

Our results speak for themselves: more than 95% of students find employment or move into further study within six months of graduating, and we have three courses which have scored 100% satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2017. We were also named the top University in the UK for social mobility in a one-off report in 2014, demonstrating the power of giving students both the skills to succeed and the confidence to use them.

We offer a great range of courses from Foundation Degrees & Progression Courses to Honours Degrees and Postgraduate study.  As the most experienced teacher training provider in the South West, we have been successfully training teachers since 1840, receiving praise in our Ofsted inspections, including an “outstanding” for our secondary Management and Quality Assurance.  We have excellent links with local schools and Marjon is both well known and well respected.

All our programmes involve work placements of some sort, and all students are trained in critical graduate-level skills such as presenting with impact, applying for jobs, managing interviews and influencing others. We work very closely with key employers on all programmes, linking our students to a network of contacts to help them in their future careers. Personal Development Tutors work closely with students in both group work and one-to-one to build confidence and develop individual strengths. Our areas of specialism include teaching, sport, health and wellbeing, social sciences, business, and performing arts, with each area having industry-level resources and facilities to prepare students for the workplace.

Our Values are at the heart of everything we do. They were developed by our staff, are inspired by the stories of our students, by our history and by our hopes and ambitions for the future. They encourage both the ability and the aspiration to improve lives for all.  Put simply, everyone at Marjon expects their colleagues to behave with fairness and decency, both to each other and to students. You can expect the same in return from your peers and from the University as a whole. We are wholeheartedly committed to being an inclusive and fair community where every voice counts. We’re not perfect, but if we ever fail at this, we want to know.

We also expect you to commit yourself wholeheartedly to the broader principles and spirit of our Values. We expect you, whatever your role, to encourage ambition and independence, being an empowering force both within your teams and with the students you have contact with. We expect you to bring a positive spirit of curious inquiry to everything you do, always questioning how things could be done better for students, for your colleagues, or for the University as a whole. We expect you to thank colleagues for a job well done and to share achievements together. We have big ambitions, but above all we are people focused and we expect humanity and grace from all those who work for us.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 years I spent studying at Marjon through my BA & MA. I learnt an incredible amount from my time here & gained friends for life, with memories I’ll never forget. I would highly recommend Plymouth Marjon University to anyone who is looking to study in a small, friendly environment with superb staff & a fantastic surrounding location.

I loved the attention as a foreign student. The institution offers the service of restaurant and cafeteria. The sport facilities are excellent. There is a library on site. The academic service was brilliant.

Spent wonderful time here studying for three wonderful years (which went by so fast), the lecturers are amazing, staffs and students are supportive and nice, and the environment is cosy and friendly like no other. Academic wise, the contents and syllabus are well-prepared. We gained a lot of useful input pertaining to our course; all of the modules were professionally built to suit our course requirements.

Accommodations on campus are very-low quality. Administrators are blind to the needs of the students. There is nothing around the campus and students are very isolated. Why would someone pay 9,250 pounds a year for such a place is a mistery. There is this Alison Spenser who is 1) hated by everyone on campus including the lecturers and 2) the most unprofessional person I have ever seen. Stay away!

The worst four years, disorganised tutors, boring lectures with people who had never worked in the sector they was teaching so didn't understand the true problems we face through out our work. However amazing study skills support, counselling services and overall student wellbeing care. Just mainly the teaching of the subject.

Amazing uni, did a 4 year degree here and staff, the way my degree was formated, accommodation, and all the people were brilliant! Top of the range sports facilities on campus, student support are the best ever!!

I think the university is brilliant for various reasons. The lectures are interesting and the lecturers themselves really take time to explain the subject, ensure all are understanding and constantly provide additional material to aid in learning. The class sizes are fairly small, meaning that you really get to know people on your course helping to form great friendships and gain support during your studies. There is a sense of warmth and friendliness on campus, you just don't get that same feeling in a larger university!

Marjon is a fantastic university! I like the fact that it is smaller than other universities, as it feels like a community and you get to know your lecturers really well and receive a lot of support. The facilities here are amazing too. I also like that on the BEd Primary Education course we get coverage of all of the subjects and that placements increase in length gradually and you build up in small steps to teaching on the first year placement.
