Principal Construction Engineer - Piping

Job Summary

Wood is currently seeking to recruit a competent Principal Construction Engineer – Piping to join our team in Dubai Drydocks on an FPSO project. In this role you will be assigned to monitor the construction scope to ensure that the company and Contractors perform all work to agreed standards for safety, health and environment and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance. Participate in and advice on all construction activities and initiatives, including provision of training / inductions, documentation reviews etc.

The duration of this role will be for 12 months with possible extension.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a good working relationship with the clients and sub – contractors engineering representatives
• Responsible for site engineering activities and providing technical assistance to the construction supervision team
• Primary contact with the project office to insure site is in receipt of latest drawing, specifications and information
• Assist in the resolution of technical queries arising on site
• Supervises vendor representatives site unite for check out / pre-commissioning of equipment and any other special testing or maintenance requirements
• Fully familiar with the drawings, specifications and engineering procedures of the project
• Assist in the review and approval of sub – contractors method statement
• Approval of final “as built “ drawings
• To read, understand and implement the company safety policy and the arrangements described in the company and area safety management documents
• Review project studies & proposals for Constructability and / or Construction Hazard Identification

Skills / Qualifications

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 15 years overall experience
• Should be competent enough to understand queries arising from the Contractor / Client and be able to answer these efficiently or know when further support is required
• Should be able to determine what we can / cannot answer queries, without the need for external support
• Should be comfortable attending site meetings with the Contractor and Client to provide support and discuss queries
• Experience of Brownfield Modifications
• Self motivated and able to clearly communicate with client and contractors at all levels
• Reasonable presentation skills and ability to provide training
• Reasonable written communication skills
