Raksha Shakti University

The Government of Gujarat has established “RAKSHA SHAKTI UNIVERSITY” vide ‘ The Raksha Shakti University Act, 2009’, Gujarat bill No-16 of 2009 in the sixtieth year of the Republic of India to prepare the youth of the state for becoming effective and efficient security personnel and to conduct courses and award degrees, diplomas and certificate for the said purpose. This university is dedicated for developing skill in field of internal development, and future employees in internal Security Management sector.

The Raksha Shakti University is a unique and first of its kind in India for conducting certificate, diploma and degree courses in the field of police science and internal security. Till the new University building becomes operational, the activities and the University will be carried out from the old SPIPA building situated at Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad.

One of the main objectives of the University is to train and prepare manpower to tackle the upcoming challenges of various types of offences such as terrorism, economic offences, cyber crime, telecommunication offences and the offences requiring expertise in forensic science.

This University, by way of providing efficient persons for security forces, will help the Government to enhance the security and safety of the people in the country.

Mission:

• To impart customised education to the youth of the country in all vital aspects of internal security.

Objectives:

• To develop an institution in security science and management for training about excellence in all functions of security forces.
• To facilitate research in all matters of internal security.
• To extend the benefit of knowledge and skills with regards to law enforcement agencies thereby contributing to the development of individuals and society.
• To provide facilities to teachers and students for learning process so that individual attention is provided to the students with the objective of promoting scholarship and excellence.
• To develop and conduct teaching methodology for security forces thereby encouraging innovation in training.
• To encourage and develop ideas and values enshrined in the constitution of India to bring about improvement in the working of police and other security forces.
• To develop respect for the rule of law and faith in equitable administration.

• To carry out research work and organize programmes for better interaction of security forces with people.

The Raksha Shakti University campus is located at Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad. It is about 1 km from Civil Hospital, 4km from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport, 4 km from Sabarmati Railway Station and approximately 8 km from Kalupur Railway Staion.

The library at Raksha Shakti University is spacious, airy, well lighted and well maintained. The library is well stocked with number of books on various courses and topics. The issuance of books is computerized and fully automated. Also, National and International journals, periodicals and magazines are subscribed and available for reference. Library at Raksha Shakti University has a unique collection. Maintaining the Internal Security concept the book bank consists books on Security, IPC/CRPC(English/Gujarati), Law, Terrorism, Naxalism, English Novels, Gujarati Novels, Forensic Science, IT laws,etc.

The computer lab at Raksha Shakti University is an exquisite one and keeps the students updated with latest computer tools and technologies; the University provides all the facilities of the modern age. All the computers are well-equipped with latest technologies and software’s in order to enhance student's knowledge and skills. High speed Internet connectivity is provided at all the times to the students. An in-built LAN connecting the different computers is made available to impart knowledge on networking technology. Every student is inspired and encouraged to make full use of the Computer Lab to broaden and deepen their minds and knowledge.

To ensure physical health of RSU students - A multigym, treadmill and cycle have been installed in an air-conditioned Gymnasium in the RSU premises. Both the students and faculty of RSU have easy access to this facility. A physical trainer has also been employed for the Gym.

One of the objectives of RSU is to ensure good physical health of the students, with the mission of "HEALTH WITH RECREATION", facilities for various games have been created for the RSU students. These include Outdoor Games like Football, Volleyball, Kabbadi and Kho-Kho & indoor games like Chess and Carrom-board. The university employs trained coaches in the various outdoor games to ensure quality coaching to the students.
